As disgusting as this is, I am certain that a change is coming. I am not sure it is helpful to those kids still playing to keep bringing this up (until the season is over.) Regardless of thier talent level, you have to feel sorry for them having to endure a season like this.

WKU decided that they were not going to retain or extend the coach of the mens team. They said goodbye NOW!

I think it would be a clear message that we expect more to part ways with this guy and let the staff finish the season. But thats just me.

One thing to keep in mind? Women basketball cannot be viewed as anything but a money grab from other sports. You have to pay the coaches very well, and the cash flow will always be in the red. I do not know how we can pay for a coach that would make this team at least representative unless we just hit a diamond in the rough. Those coaches usually take the first decent offer out there after limited success like Kelly did.

OR, UL could decide that it is time that women's basketball is as successful as softball and make it something other than a drain on resources.

No one can disagree with that. I personally like the atmosphere of EKL for women's bball. All that is missing is a team that can win there consistently.

Oh yeah, I am one of many in my circle that are counting, and counting on a BIG search to start soon after the season for a NEW coach. I know there has been some injuries to key players but 5 years and this cat has done nothing. It is time in my book to look elsewhere for a MUCH better coach!!!

How many tickets per game you think you need to sell to justify a salary of 200-250K ? Well let me reset the question because perhaps we already are on the hook for a 100K per year regardless of any wins. Since he gets almost zero revenue the question is more like how many tickets do we need to sell to justify between 100K and 150K extra in order to get what is needed to be highly competitive.

Well let us think if we could sell a thousand season tickets at a hundred dollars a set, there would be 100K. Since we have already shown we will pay a guy at least a hundred K without the first dollar of revenue in return then it looks like we need between 1000 and 1500 season tickets. Not going to happen. For zero revenue we are paying over a hundred K, but we cannot afford more with zero revenue.

Your take is that all we gotta do is pay a good coach. Well hell yea, all we gotta to do is pay a good coach, but we don't have the seed money, or if you will the fertilizer to plant the crop. We ARE spending 100% of all money availble to the athletic departments. IMO it is time for those who love women basketball to act like those who love softball, and try building from within. In other words some benefactors are going to have to do it, the university is blowing all the money it can afford right now.

If I had more money to give to anybody in basketball it would be to Marlin so he could bring in a better non conference opponent to the Cajun Dome. If mens basketball becomes successful again then there is a serious revenue generator, not womens basketball.

do not show me a McBrokeBack game and say see, see I told you so. Let us get real numbers. Get me the McBrokeback revenue stream. Nobody has been anywhere as close to successful as Kelly and his attendance numbers were dismal.

I do know Brad could not possibly do any worse than Mr. Rodgers. I bet he might take the job for Rodgers salary.

The fact is that women's basketball is low on the list of priorities for this athletic program as well as 99% of its fans. There is no sense in dumping money into a program that no one cares about and will never have a chance to make that money back. The cost-benifit analysis says that you put that money towards football, basketball, baseball, or softball.
