LOUISIANA La. - Louisiana’s Lady Cajuns women’s tennis team cracked the national rankings for the first time since the 2003 season at #51, as announced Wednesday by the ITA. This also represents the first time since 2003 that both the women’s and men’s tennis teams have been nationally ranked during the same season.
“When I took this job, being ranked nationally was one of the goals that I set for this team,” said Associate Head Coach Katalin Gyulai. “I am very proud of our entire team and now we will have to work even harder to stay ranked.”
Louisiana’s women are on a seven-match winning streak and have not lost a contest since February 1. The win streak includes victories over three Conference-USA teams, #43 SMU, Memphis and Southern Miss.
The Cajuns women will be shooting for its eighth consecutive victory Wednesday, as they host Texas-San Antonio, at 12 p.m., at Cajun Courts.
