Why are the ratings so subjective?

I mean why is it say.. Billich is rated a two star but yet the best center in the state?

Take a guy like Batiste... rated 3 stars by ESPN.. played in the Louisiana/Texas bowl... why only two on scout?

Tech is at 11 LOIs in so far and we're at 18.

And Tulane is at 10.

Its pretty simple. There's no formula and you're judging players with the human eye. No one's gonna have the same opinion necessarily. You mention Bilich being the best center but that's by Lee Brecheen's ratings, not Scout or Rivals, etc. Those giving stars can sandbag and keep a kid low on the radar, others dont even see the prospect and jump them a few stars. Players get an offer from Tech and apparently that makes them 3 stars since their guy is the one giving stars.
