Something tells me that they will be able to go out and afford a bigger hire such as ASU did with Malzahn and they will be in a good spot. They've had good success the past 3 years and have the money to get a solid coach that is well known. the timing doesn't help though.
Cristobal said he is staying at FIU ... maybe they upped his salary.

They absolutely had to. I'd bet he is being paid in line with Malzahn at ASU at around 900k

The arms race in the SBC is heating up! Maybe that's why Coach Hud is not in a rush to get his new contract finalized! ;-) I would think that Scott Farmer would want to get this thing put to bed ASAP. Of course, maybe the hangup is the state approval.

I really think this is a big deal for the SunBelt Conference ... a SB coach turning down a head coaching position at a Big East school (I think).

Do we need state approval when private funds supplement his salary? Wasn't Farmer trying to make Hud the highest paid coach in the SBC? Seems like the longer this takes, the higher the price to beat. $900,000 is in the La Tech tier. Now Ark State and possibly FIU. Can/will we match that?

Any change to his current contract requires approval by the state board of regents. This is even required for the various changes we are looking to do to various facilities as we have to have these things bidded out and and we need to have approval for contracts awarded.
