Special Olympic Basketball Tournament

A big day Saturday for some inspirational athletes at Acadiana High School.

More than a dozen basketball teams hit the hardwood for the annual Special Olympics Basketball Tournament.

"It was fun. It was really fun," said on player.

A lot of excitement and competition as these athletes gave it their all on the court. This year, a new twist, The Special Olympians teaming up with other area-athletes.

"Unified sports, the whole point of it is to promote competition, promote training with students with disabilities, along with students without, or even adults."

Athletes like Cardey Spencer say being part of a team like this is quite rewarding.

"They get real excited like when they score and when they make a good pass, and make a good play. They just be enthusiastic and excited."

This is more than just a game, everyone on the team taking something away from the competition.
