I understood from Robert Lee's interview recently on Jays show was he was expecting Cooke to be the best player in the Sun Belt not to play in a league game yet.
Jay, help?

That certainly wasn't from a recent interview.
Cooke was not asked to come back.
what happened with cooke? do we know why he won't be back? man, i know we've never seen him suit up for the cajuns, but from everything we've heard its kinda disheartening to know he won't be back.
Could you please tell us more on this situation? What the heck is going on with some of the kid's with so much talent...mental illness?Originally Posted by BirdofParadise

Coach's decision.
The reason everyone is asking is that there was so much hype about this kid and now your saying he's not even going to step foot on the basketball court. Everyone is wondering why he's not coming back when he was talked about so much.
marquis cooke was not asked back because of academic reasons, he had an altercation with a music teacher last semester that is very good friends with robert lee, he also left campus before finals and did not take any of them so he wouldnt be eligible to play anyways. thats the story
Another classic case of having more talent than the law allows, but not being intelligent enough to keep your effing head screwed on straight.Originally Posted by paulpaul2
unbelievable.
Thanks for the info. It is another sad case of a kid not being a well rounded round baller. Life is much more than sports and some of these kids don't have this instilled in their upbringing.Originally Posted by paulpaul2

Yep, but he will get better in the future, speaking of this year, UL has just signed a kid named Dison who I think every one will be happy with, note the schools after him, I doubt there will be an academic issue. Our point guard just got a lot better because of he has another weapon to pass to.Originally Posted by Clutch0364
From our old friend Ron Brisco:
By Ron Briscoe, Southeast Regional Basketball Report & Scouting Service
Folks it took a while, but Robert Lee's Ragin Cajuns basketball staff led by assistant coach Rennie Bailey got it done... The Cajuns basketball team signed one of the best shooters from Louisiana and Texas in 6'5 guard-forward Brandon Dison.
Dison, a Louisiana native was forced to play his senior year of high school basketball in Texas, after hurricane Katrina ruin his family home outside of New Orleans.
Brandon was rated by Southeast Regional Basketball Report & Scouiting Service as the 30th best player from the Southern Region, and the 20th best player from the of state Texas. Brandon, was also rated the 15th best player in the Houston merto area, by SERRB.
Brandon played ball for three years at Archbishop Hannan HS in Meraux, LA, before moving to Spring, TX to play his senior year at Westfield HS, under one of the best high school basketball coaches in the state and nation, in Larry Brown.
Coach Brown, told me last December, that Brandon was the missing link in his basketball team. He, said "Brandon is the best player on our basketball team". "One reasons we had an outstanding season at Westfield HS, this season was because we added him to our basketball program".
Westfiled was rated last season as one of the nations top 25 high school basketball teams by USA-Today. Westfiled won its first 36 games before losing in Class 5A regional finals to Kingwood HS, which end their season with a 36-1 record.
Brandon had it down to Tulane, Texas A&M, and Baylor, before signing with the Cajuns.
Brandon was a silver lining for Westfield HS, and lets hope he will be a silver lining for the ragin cajuns basketball program.
