Boy howdy, did he slam that clipboard! I was way up in section 228 and looking down (probably in disgust at what they had just done on the floor), and it made me jerk my head up. And he was so loud you could almost hear exactly what he was saying way up in the second level. He's a fiery guy. I like that...alot. In fact, my husband had to telll me to shush because I screamed, "Get on 'em, General!" :oOriginally Posted by rhineaux
I agree with all the comments made about the improvement in the team. I will be the first to admit that they have really surprised me. Sure is a pleasant surprise for once, though. The rapidity of the improvement is impressive, showing that they are smart and quick learners. I will admit that I cringe when Willie Lago comes in. He's made some serious mistakes every game. He seems to be losing confidence instead of gaining it. But I still love that little guy. He's bound to get get better with Lee as a coach, right? Then I can start pulling out my catch phrase- "Lago my Eggo!"
According to Coach Lee, grades were never the issue. The deal was that he had personal issues to resolve, whatever that means, and he dropped out of school for the spring semester. BY NCAA rules he had to sit out the fall semester.Originally Posted by DaddyCajun
In any case depending when the grades are posted he could be on court for SFA and for sure by UNO time.
I am not for sure but I think that they would be at 12 next year. By NCAA rules (I think / not for sure). You can only loose 2 a year and the penalty is 3 (T-Wade '04 and Fields and Turner for '05. If I am right and I could be wrong that means 2 this year and 1 lost next year. Please don't hold me to that, because this is how it was told to me.
This is the player's that will be in a cajun uniform that I know of.
Some will be be Walk On's (which one and how many I don't know)
All I know is that it will be hard to find a Scholarship if we only have 12.

If I'm guessing correct, that leaves 12. With 5 not currently eligible, it's hard to believe that all 5 will make it, meaning we may free up 1 or 2 spots.
Let's hope that James doesn't decide to come back. He's been our own worst enemy out on the court this season. I've seen him play some good games last year but he doesn't have it this year. I don't know where it went but he needs to be as far away from the court as possible next year.Originally Posted by CajunCool

From what I have heard the want all of them to make it. I know that if Gary, Dison, Milsap would have had there grades in order we would not have got them. Gary will be a good player, he has all the talent in the world and is a good kid.
Gary committed before his senior year, so he must have known that his grades were going to be crap. Milsap is the only one worth fighting for. He was unreal at the Top 28 last year.Originally Posted by cajunjack
NEW ORLEANS – Wednesday will mark the earliest the University of New Orleans basketball team has ever started conference play, and a television audience will be watching.
The Privateers will host long-time rival Louisiana-Lafayette in a 7 p.m. tipoff at O’Reilly Auto Parts Court. It will be the debut of the Privateer Sports Network television package, as Cox Sports Television (ch. 37 on Cox Cable in New Orleans) will air the game live.
This is the first of six televised Privateer games appearing on Cox.
The game will also be the 63rd contest between the schools, and UNO (3-6) will be trying to reverse recent history. The Ragin’ Cajuns (2-6) have won five straight meetings and lead the all-time series 32-30.
UNO, though, is looking to start 1-0 in conference play for the fourth time in five seasons. The Privateers are coming off a 76-52 win over Texas-Tyler on Saturday. Juniors Shaun Reynolds, Bo McCalebb and James Parlow combined for 60 points, and UNO forced a season-high 27 turnovers.
Surely, UL men's basketball head coach Robert Lee would prefer to start the Sun Belt Conference season on better terms.
But as it is, the Cajuns will head to New Orleans for a 7 p.m. game today against the conference favorite Privateers still smarting from a surprising 80-42 loss against Stephen F. Austin.
"You can't spin it any way," Lee said after the game, "we were awful in every category. ... The team that everybody thought we were going to have before the season started showing up tonight."
Prior to the performance that Lee would like to forget, the Cajuns had exceeded some expectations by playing a handful of national powers somewhat close. The Cajuns had chances against Oral Roberts, Cal State Fullerton, and Tennessee.
Does this mean it is going to be on in Lafayette also.
