I think all of the state schools represent this state on different platforms. ULM represented, maybe to a lesser degree but nonetheless, when they beat Alabama. We represented in the CWS and women's CWS as well as when we participate in the NCAA tourney and so on. I think Tulane represented about ten years ago when they went undefeated and were nationally ranked. To cheer for a university is a choice, not a requirement or duty bestowed upon those that happen to live within its local reach.
I disagree with you, Turbine. If you trace LSU's history back 70 years or so, you will find that it indeed was artificially set up and was seeded financially to get to where it eventually arrived. I'm not talking athletically. I'm talking academically... which, of course, is the purpose of all the schools we are talking about. It was then also seeded athletically. Even the band, Huey's pride and joy, was handed funds. (wow... that was money well spent!)
Hey, we in Baton Rouge own LSU! We only loan it to you little people in the outskirts to make you feel better about yourselves. Keep supporting us and we might allow you to keep worshipping us and sending us money.
You keep buying our P&G Baton Rouge stuff too... I'm not trying to get you to stop that... but you stop going around stirring up trouble you little dweeb. We have something pretty special going on and we don't like our little surrogates like you running around creating issues. Everyone with half an operating brain cell knows that UL is the biggest economic engine in Lafayette and LSU is the biggest economic engine in Baton Rouge. Keep sending me that check and keep that Baton Rouge flag flying on your "ranch".
Do you realize how much crappier Baton Rouge would be if we didn't have all you little neophytes out there sending us your money!?
Now I see what your point was. Yes, that is correct. Without the tremendous push it has had over the past 70 years, it would be an even worse university academically than it is
So much of the state's attention, even from the legislature, is spent making sure that LSU is "protected" as some kind of flagship... primarily to protect the sports program. Again, that is why we DON'T have a university that is respected as are Ohio State, Texas, Tennessee, Michigan and so forth. An LSU degree is second rate... and always will be.
Geez then a U-L-L degree must be treated like a GED if an LSU degree is that bad. You are an idiot my friend. LSU is set up as the only state flagship like The Ohio State University (guess what Ohio University tried to change their name to the U of Ohio and was shot down so Ohio State changed its name to THE Ohio State Univ), Penn State Univ., U Mass, USCe, U of Virginia, U of Alabama, U of Illinois, Rutgers, U of Minnesota, West Virginia, Maryland, U of Tennessee, Kentucky, Univ of California (note berkeley is the flagship this is why UCLA, UC-Irvine, etc. must indentify with a letter or city). Louisiana is one of many to have only 1 flagship. Plus Northwestern State is the only eligible flagship in the U of L system as it is the oldest and preexisted any other ones...but to be eligible for flagship status they need another 10,000 students.
So I guess, according to you, Ohio U fans send money to OSU... Virginia Tech fans support UV... Auburn fans finance the University of Alabama... Memphis fans make checks to Tennessee and USC fans have season tickets to Cal. How stupid.
And... by the way, several degrees from UL are in fact superior to such a degree from LSU. In the area that LSU has no competition... medical and law... which do you think the average person would more respect... such a degree from the above mentioned schools or... haha... LSU. Be real.
"Virginia Tech fans support UV... Auburn fans finance the University of Alabama... Memphis fans make checks to Tennessee and USC fans have season tickets to Cal. How stupid."
Once again you friggin idiot...compare these small regional Louisiana schools to small regional schools in the other state. You can't compare Georgia Institute of Technology to U.L.L or U.L.M. Auburn, Virginia Tech, USC (USC is a private school you retard) are large system flagships...I can tell you went to U.L.L. you know nothing. You can't compare a regional school to a system flagship. **BTW Yes Southwestern Louisiana and Louisiana-Lafayette means you are a regional school**
What a stupid idiot you are. You are typical of the many apologists for LSUA&M across this state. Again... you are a perfect example of why an LSU degree has so little respect across the country... and why this state is last or close to it in so many categories that matter.
