Melissa Mayeux new LCA Softball coach
We would like to introduce Coach Melissa Mayeux to the Knight family!! Coach Mayeux will be our new varsity softball coach!!
Melissa was born and raised in Paris until the age of 14. At 14 years old she was accepted into one of the only two baseball academies in France. Then at the early age of 16 years old she became the first woman to be eligible to get drafted by Major League Baseball team.
At 17 years old Mayeux got a scholarship to go play softball in Miami at Miami Dade College. She played there for 2 years and then transferred to UL and played for the Ragin Cajuns Softball team.
Last season she was named Sun Belt player of the year and played professional softball for the Vipers in the WPF.
Coach Mayeux says that she has always been so passionate about helping others and using softball as a means to help her team to become better players but mainly better individuals in life is a blessing.
Welcome to the KNIGHT family coach!!

Wait...you're not JMV with the scoop?
Re: Melissa Mayeux new LCA Softball coach
MM lived in the neighborhood when she first transferred from Miami. There was never a time when we passed by her house that she wasn't working on something. Totally dedicated to the game.
This is a grand slam hire for LCA.

I think he mentioned it to me a couple weeks ago

What other site? Seems like a lifetime since he's posted on the Rage Page...
Re: Melissa Mayeux new LCA Softball coach
Congrats to Melissa! LCA is getting a very dedicated and hard worker. Glad to see her sticking around the area.
Re: Melissa Mayeux new LCA Softball coach
LCA will now have former UL players coaching their boys basketball team (Jacob Broussard), baseball team (Austin Robichaux), and softball team (Melissa Mayeaux). And a former UL women’s basketball coach (Errol Rogers) coaching their girls basketball team. Also, the former boys basketball coach (Byron Starks) that Jacob Broussard replaced.
You also have the most exciting player on the Cajuns men’s basketball team (Greg Williams, Jr) and one of the best players on the women’s team (Tamera Johnson) that are LCA grads.
Maybe at some point people will stop crapping on LCA every time the schools name comes up on a UL sports message board.
I doubt it, but maybe.

When they stop the way they handle business behind the scenes then people will stop crapping on them. However, those programs at the school haven’t been doing things like football.

Don’t believe everything you hear.
And boys basketball has 3 state titles to footballs 4. Girls basketball has won 4 straight and are huge favorites to win this year and next. So…some of those other sports are. Baseball should continue to improve with the new facilities and Melissa being the softball coach may get that program going. We shall see.
