Cajun RPI entering today ...
The Cajuns have an Adjusted RPI of .5488 (Ranked #58) entering play today. But what is important is how tightly the teams in the 50s are clustered. This means that it is paramount that the Cajuns finish off ULM tomorrow. I know Robichaux wants to get some players playing time. But an at-large bid is still a possibility (with a nice tournament run) and it is crucial that the Cajuns take care of their RPI by winning tomorrow. Surely the needs (playing time vs. winning to stay in contention for an at-large bid) can be balanced.
How tightly are they clustered? A mere .0023 separates the Cajuns from the #52 ranked team (Houston). Troy is only .0037 away at #51. Results from today are noted below.
49 0.5559 UC Irvine (10-0 over UC Riverside T7th)
50 0.5559 Dallas Baptist (10-6 over Charlotte B7 suspended)
51 0.5525 Troy (Won 11-6 over South Alabama)
52 0.5511 Houston (Lost 0-4 vs. Memphis)
53 0.5509 Washington State (8-6 over Oregon B8)
54 0.5503 St John's (Won 8-7 over Villanova)
55 0.5502 Nebraska (Lost 10-5 to Missouri)
56 0.5495 Kansas State (9-9 vs. Kansas T9)
57 0.5492 College of Charleston (Lost to Samford 4-1)
58 0.5488 Louisiana (Won vs. ULM 11-1)
59 0.5474 Mercer (Won 12-2 over ETSU)
60 0.5473 Tulane (Lost 6-2 vs. ECU)
61 0.5470 Wake Forest (Won 15-5 vs. Maryland)
62 0.5469 Rhode Island (Won 9-7 vs. Dayton)
63 0.5461 Sam Houston State (Lost 5-1 vs. ATM Corpus-Christi)
64 0.5456 James Madison (Won 5-0 vs. Northeastern)
65 0.5454 Alabama-Birmingham (Lost 3-2 vs. Utah)
Also important ...
#22 Georgia is 28-27 after loss vs. Vanderbilt
#32 Auburn is 29-26 after win over Tennessee
#52 Houston is 24-30 after loss vs. Memphis
#53 Washington State is 22-25
#55 Nebraska is 26-25 after loss vs. Missouri
#61 Wake Forest is 24-28 after win vs. Maryland
#65 Alabama-Birmingham is 27-26 after loss vs. Utah
To qualify for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, a team must have a winning record (over .500).

Re: Cajun RPI entering today ...
Also important is SLU losing to Northwestern State today, dropping SLU out of the Base RPI Top 50 and improving the Cajuns' record vs. the Base RPI Top 50 to 8-7. Meanwhile, it is important that FAU stay in the Top 50 (currently #45 in Base RPI) and will move higher with the win over FIU.

I don't see a path to us making the ncaa tournament, short of winning the sun Belt Conference
tournament. Hope I'm wrong

There certainly is a path. It is not hard to imagine. But the Cajuns need to win more games and have some teams just ahead of them drop. An RPI rank in the 40s will give the Cajuns a shot.

Most projections have us squarely on the bubble. That was before this weekend. Take care of business in the tourney (at least two wins) and we have a strong regional resume. Lets get this done!!!
I officially love Matty Ott. He apparently hates LSU as much as I do. Good people...

I think we must make the championship game of the tournament, but this should get us in.
A little help from a few teams above in RPI to lose and drop would help along with hopefully their are not too many teams who are to win their conference tournament from multi bid conferences that would not have got in otherwise, especially the Sun Belt.
Re: Cajun RPI entering today ...
Just want y'all to know that Brian consulted with me on this during the Cajuns softball game yesterday.
Brian...this looks about right. :-)

Please explain?
Re: Cajun RPI entering today ...
I'm guessing Ott is not healthy as he has not performed this year or last. I'ts been downhill since freshman year.

Something is wrong with him. Prolly the same thing that sent Michael Cook from the penthouse to the doghouse. It's gotta be mental. These guys are great athletes.
Re: Cajun RPI entering today ...
We are 54th according to Boyds. We need to catch both Troy and FAU in RPI. So we really need both to tank today and in the tourney. GO UALR & FIU!!!!

The Cajuns simply need to be in short range of FAU in the RPI rankings. Finishing ahead of FAU in conference and sweeping them in a weekend conference series will give the Cajuns the edge in such a case.
