Good read, Jay. And as if I wasn't ticked off enough about having to sit in the stands during the tourney and having to hear ULL and Louisiana-Lafayette used over and over...you made it worse. But in this case, that is a GOOD thing!

What a bunch of clowns. At some point, there should be an ultimatum on this garbage. You either support every schools' request on their own names or you have a problem with the school that will more often than not in the near future, have the best or at least top 3 attendance numbers in the major sports. One that has brought and will continue to bring national prominence to your little shoddily run conference in multiple sports.
And Hoax can revel in this all they want. We will continue to complain while at the same time continue to win titles and finishing ahead of you in damn near everything.

The key is to get ULM out of the SB, or for UL to leave the SB into a conference that ULM is not a part of.
I dont think WW has a problem with the name Louisiana, he is just trying to be nice to ULM.
Before ULM came along he granted our wishes.
The funny thing is ULM does not seem to care one way or the other.
So I dont know why WW is so concerned with not stepping on ULM's toes.

All Im doing is remembering that UL was called Louisiana by the SUNBELT before ULM came along.
I remember watching the UL/Tennessee basketball game and they listed the cajuns as Louisiana on national tv with no hint of Lafayette or ULL whatsoever.
Instead of laughing as you say, why dont you inform me where I am wrong?
I just re-read my post 3 times, and cant come up with a reason why you would find it so funny.

Well I was told that ULM wanted to be called ULM.
I think I heard that from Jaybird himself.
And even if they do care, why should WW care?
WW can call ULM ULM which is what they want, and he can call UL UL which is what they want.

Every time we've made progress in that regard, either the former President or AD from ULM would call the conference office and scream at the commish.
New president isnt' much different from what I've been told.

The real issue is getting out of the same conference with ULM.
If we were in lets say CUSA, not only would the CUSA commish grant our wishes, he would be just as in favor of it as we are.
Being named Louisiana is not only a benefit to the Cajuns, its also a benefit to the conference.
Of course WW is too stupid to realize that.

I think everyone should man up and have a duel of sorts. Let's take the head to head results from every sport between the two schools starting next year.
Winner gets their way with the name. If we can't beat them on the field consistently enough to claim that title then the league is more than welcome to UL-L & Lafayette us to death and I'll keep my mouth shut.

That should be the case, Chop. All I was doing was pointing out that ULM cares a lot. Of course, maybe if they worried less about who calls us what...and more about their own athletic program (which is in shambles), maybe they wouldn't suck so much!!

I have little doubt that the same person (with the hard headed stance as using the wrong name) was behind the bracket buster snaffu.

The time for that is over. They(ULM) haven't had a major sports team in an NCAA tournament since forever.
Its a second rate, low rent operation....just like the Sunbelt office and its fearless leader.
Fortunately we have some quality schools in this conference, cause the head guy is totally lost.

Waters was an Associate AD (I believe that was his title) at UL under Terry Don Phillips for a few years back in the 80's. He then went over to Tulane in the same (or similar) capacity. Quite frankly, I don't know that he has any agenda against us, just a perhaps more defensible position to hold us at Louisiana-Lafayette. The "UL-L's" and "Lafayette's" are inexcusable. Period! To return the favor why don't we Cajun fans start referring the Sun Belt Commissioner as "Wrong" Waters instead of his correct or "Wright" name!!
The name on my birth certificate isn't the name i go by in everyday life but when i ask people to call me by the name i prefer, most people abide, they also apologize if i correct them. Well, i don't think "Wrong" has issued any apologies lately??
As the ancient proverb says.....2 "Wrongs", (referring to us as (1)ULL or (2)Lafayette) doesn't make a "Wright"!!!

We can start now.
Football - CHECK
Basketball (M) - DOUBLE CHECK
Softball - TRIPLE CHECK
Baseball - We'll know about this time next week
Basketball (W) - Hoax actually won this one
And with the exception of Football, which i think the series is even, we've pretty much owned them in all time series in Basketball, Softball and Baseball.

This sounds like WW is doing what the rest of our country and government is doing. Bowing down to the few that are offended by something regardless of the view of others or regardless of how many other people it ____es off.
