Fire Bustle Now!

Inexcusable! When are you Bustle supporters ever going to realize that Bustle will never get us to the next level. Tonight was the perfect example. Why is Bustle so enamored with Chris Masson? McGuire is clearly the superior quarterback, he had two TD's tonight while Masson struggled. McGuire made one mistake running into one of his own backs and Bustle yanked him. No confidence in McGuire. And WHY? Masson is a H.S. quarterback at best. What's all the more puzzling was that Bustle was at one time a highly regarded QB coach at VT. I have never been this upset with a Cajuns loss. Now some of you may say, well they played all 4 quarters. SO? SO WHAT? They lost, and losing to a team that turned the ball over 6 - count 'em, 6 times - well, that's just dumb.

In the epic event that just occurred, and no, it was not the game nor this thread that I'm talking about, I witnessed something that may (just may) be dumber than this post and the person who wrote it and its the scrum that I just scrubbed off the bottom of my foot in the shower after sitting outside all day in my sandals....end of story.

If you think that McGuire is the superior QB, you have no hope.

Even when opponents know he will run the ball McGuire is successful.

There was no need to try and trick Troy with Masson running up the gut when it isn't his forte.

I'd go with Baldwin. If he's not interested, then I'd have to turn to Marty Fletcher. I know he coached basketball but wouldn't it have been funny to watch him on the sidelines of last nights game with all of the turnovers and poor calls.

You guys are unbelievable at times. I agree that a 2-4 start to the season is not ideal. But if anyone would be realistic here and understand that we lost 2 games to BCS schools and 2 games to the 2 powerhouse Sun Belt schools. We now have our easiest part of our schedule in front of us (minus the Ole Miss game). I agree that Bustle has his faults, but this team has played with more heart and character than I have seen in a long while from a cajun bunch.For them to go into Troy banged up and play the way they did showed their character. You guys love playing Sunday morning quarterback and second-guessing everything Bustle does. Its not his fault Masson fumbled. I think it was a great call. Sometimes great calls dont go exactly as planned and thats just sports. Im glad to see Brad back on the field as he seems to provide a spark to the offense and the team seems to rally around him. I'm not even going to try to decide if he is worth the starting job or not. That decision lies with the coaches that are at practice everyday and know their players' capabilities and talents a whole lot better than we do. Half of you people have probably never even played football and have no clue of the preparation and hard work that goes into playing the game. I am here to support the cajuns and wish them well. I respect the players and coaches that give their all every weekend. So as the saying goes, "If you don't support the cajuns, move to Baton Rouge".

Honestly, Alot of people are overlooking the capabilities of Ohio as they are just as talented as Troy. So if you think this is an "easy" part of a schedule, you are in for a ride as this game should be tough. Middle is definately not the same team they were last year so I wouldnt so much call them "Power House" and Troy is definitely beatable also not a powerhouse. To have that mindset to even be acceptable of being 2-4 is sad, but when you are so complacent with losing and not wanting to have a winning program i guess thats what you can expect from the fans like these.

as far as the original poster, I hope Miami Cajun sees this post as it would be hilarious to see these 2 guys go back and forth.

I agree that Middle and Troy do not have the teams that they have in the past, but they were still the favorites coming into the year. Glad to see that you missed the majority of my message to make a play on the word "powerhouse"

I didn't miss anything from your message as I also pointed out the remaining schedule is not as easy as you are portraying it.

Last year we lost to a bad FIU team. This year FIU has greatly improved and have every reason to give us a damn good game, our main advantage is that we are at home but i would not be suprised if we get out coached liked usual.

I dont know what to make of FAU but I expect to beat WKU and ULM for sure.

At this point of the season we need to worry about the final 6 teams of the schedule. Nothing about the schedule is easy for this team considering the lack of proper coaching...

Lol Masson is a HS qb at best. One of the dumbest statements I've ever heard. He had a solid game and did a great job of not relying on green to throw the ball to. Let me ask u something, why do u think brad is sooo much better? Cause he won a game last year against arkansas state (where he had about 2 picks btw)? Or maybe it was his 2 yd td runs against Troy even though Masson was the one to get him in that position. I like brad and I don't mean to belittle him but lay off masson. He has a lot of heart and has played really hard and great so far. It's hard to win a game when your punter is 2nd or 3rd on your team in rushing yards.

Holding onto the ball should be everyone's forte. It didn't require a whole lot and was done early in the down sequence. He was having a great push and possibly could have gotten in for the score had the mistake not occurred. I have no problem with that play call.

Puh-lease! This is the same arguement you guys use every time, and probably why it's taken so long to make a change. Who are we going to get to replace him? If Bustle is so great, how did we get HIM here? You sell the Cajuns short. The money is no draw, I'll give you that, but ever hear of Kyle Whittingham? No, I'm not saying Whittingham would ever come here. What I am saying is that nobody had ever heard of him before, he was a daddy's boy coordinator at Utah who's previous coaching experience was as a D-coordinator at Idaho State. Or Jim Leavitt who was a LB coach and DC as Kansas State for 5 years before becoming head coach at South Florida - and doing a fine job there. Point is, sometimes you have to take a flyer on someone and hope he works out. If not, you move on. Problem here is you wind up with a Jesse Evans, hang on to him when he's clearly in over his head because you figure you can't get anyone else and then you're disappointed. It's called trial and error - you should try it some time. The list might not be good, but his point is relevant. We always seem to hold on to poor coaches for too long and let our programs falter to a point of almost no return. This job will be attractive to a good up and coming coach as it will have to pay at least $500,000. Isn't that what LA Tech is paying? Our final 4 conference games are against teams that have won a combined 6 games and 3 of those are by one team, ULM. We let a not so powerful MT team come into Cajun Field and beat us after 2 weeks to prepare and let a 6 turnover game by Troy slip by us. Geez. If we lose one of those 4 games, we should do what Minnesota just did to their coach. This team plays with a lot of guts and a will to win only to be hampered by a poor coaching staff. Another 6-6 year should not be enough to warrant another year of this. Too much apathy by the general public and our miniscule fan base. With a good nucleus of players returning, a new coaching staff could quickly get this team over the proverbial hump next year. We have great coaching staffs in softball and baseball and now in basketball, we have the RCAF, we have improving facilities, we have a new President with a vision and will soon have a new AD. Yet, the one program that truly drives EVERYTHING, is the one that is in the poorest shape.

Do you even watch the games? This team is playing very hard and leaving it all out on the field. I also question some of the gametime coaching decisions, but Bustle has his team ready to play each week. That is hardly grounds for a mid-season firing.
Lets let the season play out. IMO it is bowl game or bust for Bustle. Nothing should be done with a coaching decision until our bowl picture is known.

The kids are playing their hearts out and I certainly commend them for that. But what games are you watching? Bustle has his team ready to play in the first half ONLY. We play great first halves, then come out in the second half of just about every game and lay a big goose egg. I'm not suggesting firing him mid-season, but losing even one of the remaining 4 conference games vs. teams that are in the bottom 10% of college football should be alarming. Among those 4 teams, there are only 6 wins and 3 of those are with one team, ULM. We lost to a 2 win FIU team last year that kept us out of a bowl game. 6 wins is an absolute minimum standard that needs to be surpassed this year. I don't have much confidence given our injuries and second half coaching of beating Ohio and Ole Miss. As you said, bowl game or bust. We won't know that until the season is over, or maybe sooner if we lose one of those 4.
