Softball mid season report card.
Since we are right around the mid-season I will give you guys my report card on the team. This is just my views off of what I have seen. Feel free to offer your views.
Pitching: D (Some bright spots but mostly inconsistent across the board from struggling to throw strikes, walks, hitting batters, making poor decisions once the ball is hit to a pitcher to not backing up the bases, etc. It has been bad)
Hitting: D (For the most part the folks that should be hitting haven't and a few have been pleasent surprises. Lack of clutch hitting and power is very evident. Also way too many slappers who can't drive the ball or get a bunt down)
Defense: D (Lack of athleticism shows in plenty spots. With the pitching staff so bad it gives the defense more opportunities to make errors. Also lack of knowing what to do with the ball once it is hit to them is frustrating)
Baserunning:F(Numerous base running mistakes, leaving early etc. The worse part is key pinch runners making most of these mistakes)
Coaching: C (Lack of experience with decisions making is hurting. They are making the most of what they have with what they have)
This off season will be critical to the future of the program. I believe some tough decisions will need to be made with the roster.

Re: Softball mid season report card.
So a D average team and coaching. This is wild for our prize softball program.

It's a girls sport. Does anyone REALLY care? I mean, come on.

Well, when you lose your A and B+ players, 7 of them, this is the result.

Don’t say this often, JMV, but I mostly agree.

Agree with your assessment. It has been a difficult season for our storied program but expected.

I care. Have been a fan and supporter since I was a student at UL in the 1980's.

Tough year. Expected but tough to face that expectation. Girls are doing what they can but really struggling. And the Belt is improved.
Hope springs eternal.

Re: Softball mid season report card.
Say what you want but we just don’t want our most consistently nationally recognized program to go down the toilet because if it does there is no coming back in this day and age of College athletics. Glasco left at the absolute worst time for us and f Ed us over.

Re: Softball mid season report card.
Coach Glasco wanted NIL money and we as fans didn’t pony up enough to support a championship program. This is what we get.

Bull____. Did he ever ask you or anyone else for money? It's funny he couldn't raise the money to remodel the locker room but Alyson has. Work will start on the locker room after the season. Sorry to tell you but Glasco never related well to the fan base.

I believe next season will look different from this season.

Re: Softball mid season report card.
I have questions about Glasco's exit because it seems like there is more than meets the eye with how things played out.

Bingo!!!!! You nailed it. Some folks know other things but we aren't going to post it for obvious reasons.

Re: Softball mid season report card.
On the bright side, we can hope for a better 2nd half to raise our average.
-
Re: Softball mid season report card.
I cant say expected since I didn't see this prediction in the preseason.
I saw predictions of a dip in pitching and other areas, but no predictions like what is occuring.
Obviously Habetz focused on the double play, and it is paying dividends, but other areas seem to have gotten little to no attention at all.

You ask fans to buy season tickets, parking passes, donate to the RCAF, purchase merchandise, spend money at games, and now contribute to the NIL fund. When does it stop? Not all fans have endless money to throw around.

Re: Softball mid season report card.
CGG’s problem is he was an outsider.

You hit the nail on the head. We love UL athletics, but not at the expense of other goals like retirement and other family needs.

Phew. I was starting to worry this thread wasn’t gonna have an “I know something you don’t know post.”

Re: Softball mid season report card.
CGG was an a hole. Let's just be honest. However, the man could recruit.
