The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team returns to action beginning on Tuesday when it plays host to Southern University in a 6 p.m. contest at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
No thread for the baseball game against the mighty Southern Jags. Down 4-2 in another display of the same baseball we have seen all year. I have watched, listened to, or followed along with the stats of every game so far this year. For the life of me I can’t think of a single inning this year where we have produced our own offensive production without the help of walks or errors. Not a one. Maybe someone can help me out with that? On top of that, another poor pitching and defensive performance. I have yet to see anything to show that this team will have any sort of success in 2025.
UGLY. ____ away a bases loaded 1 out opportunity in the bottom half of the 4th. Walk home 2 runs in T5. I don’t mean walk home hits or errors. 5 walk inning. 2 free runs from bats on shoulders. UGLY.

If we hold them to 4 or 5, we should win after this starter who’s at 88 pitches sits down and their pen comes in, right? :)

Ugly. Down year for Cajun baseball and down year for the Sun Belt overall - as 9th rated conference at the moment with only midweek games left. The bulk of that grade is in. The Southland is even ranked ahead of the SBC.
Time to get some younger guys playing time and seasoned for next year and maybe even the conference tournament this year which will be our only chance to make the tournament.
Southern Miss just beat UTRGV, the #1 RPI team in the country and Southland member. This is still unbelievably early to be talking RPI rankings. I would be shocked if the SBC finishes the season below the Southland.Quote:

diehard, take a further look in to these RPI rankings, Big East the 7th ranked conference as of now. Xavier is #2 in the nation with a 7-9 record and UCONN is 32 with a 5-8 record. Things will even out just fine. The SBC is far from the 9th strongest conference.
Y'all probably right... I'm just looking at it from the standpoint of most of the non-conference games for the season being done, with only mid-weeks left for most teams. Conference games won't affect conference ranking.

But those games still affect your rpi every time they play, it’s way too early for accurate assessment on rpi, especially as a conference. As far as midweeks, The conference is in the footprint of the SEC/ACC. A lot of really great midweeks played in this conference.Quote:
