You do realize that the "Head's" of these agencies are just politicians that mostly send emails and guide the agency. Plus, none of these changes go into effect immediately so those firings have nothing to do with this incident.

Re: OT: Plane Crash Reagan National Airport
Helicopter was a UH-60 Blackhawk based in either Ft. Belvoir or Langley, both in Fairfax County, VA. Belvoir is home to Military Intelligence and Security; Langley/McLean is home to the CIA and NSA [though NSA is said to no longer exist]. When I indirectly worked for them we called it "No Such Agency". MIS and the Company make regular flights along that route.
Reports are that the only people in board the 'Hawk' were 2 pilots and a crew chief. No one survived.

Ignored the request to shut down DCA at the request of Langley, Atacostia and Belvoir due to high volumes of traffic and the significance of its location.
The cause of this is not the result of a political decision by either party.

Re: OT: Plane Crash Reagan National Airport
True but gutting a board charged with identifying safety issues cannot be a good thing.
From the bit that I've seen, the vid Helmut posted and limited understanding of pilotage, the Blackhawk pilot was at fault? The crj seemed to be following ATC instructions.

Re: OT: Plane Crash Reagan National Airport
A spokesman addressed speculation today, until the NTSB finishes the investigation, there’s no official cause yet.
I do expect it to be done quicker than in the past.

Both followed instructions, the Blackhawk crew messed up.
I have 2000.2 hours in a UH60M, my former unit just left there 4 months ago. It’s an incredibly busy airspace to operate in.
I refuse to lay blame on political hot button topics because it’s not about politics at this point.
I could list hundreds of contributing factors, but it won’t change the fact that 70ish people have died in a midair.
Aviation is one of the most unforgiving industries out there. A critical mistake in a critical phase of flight will result in a fatal accident the majority of the time.
I have friends who know that 60 crew pretty well and it’s unfortunate.

When the Lord wants you, fault and politics are not on His checklist.
Condolences to you, know it hits home.

Thanks for the insight. I find it hard to believe the powers that be thought that this arrangement was a good idea. Choppers at max 200 feet flying under a glideslope to a busy airport like DCA. It's a wonder that this hasn't happened sooner. I wonder why the chopper went to 400 ft. I would hope the chopper had both CVR and FDR.
