This can't happen anymore.
Articles like this frustrates the ____ out me. In order for UL softball to prosper and grow the Cajuns need to land the best players in the state and then recruit out from that. Two kids 10 mins down the road going to other programs sucks. I have seen both of these kids play numerous times, obviously one more than the other, but UL should have considered both of them. STM and their club teams play top notch talent and they have the stats to back up their play on the field. Also both have great grades and high character. Hopefully from this day on the Cajuns can get the very best talent in their back yard first. With NIL now it will get harder and harder to get kids from further away.

How can you make a comment like that when you don't even know the family or situation. I promise you I know the player and family very well. Leaving to get away from mom and dad is is dumbest thing I have ever heard. This kids first choice when she was able to be recruited was always UL. UL was on her for a little while. Sometimes things can get a little political and in this case I believe that to be the situation. Regardless everything has a way of working itself out and she is in a great place where she is valued and her school is covered.

Ok well then don’t bring her/their ____ here. If it worked out quit complaining. UL can’t take every local athlete.

Im telling you it was stated from from the staff that UL would recruit in state first and then go out from there. That didn't happen. They need to practice what they preach. Of course it worked out, for other programs.

In JMV i trust when it comes to softball

Re: This can't happen anymore.
Ok so local kid passed over by UL to take a less talented prospect? Or more talented prospect? Or do we not know which prospect they signed instead of particular local kid.
Dont get me wrong. I’ve always felt UL could compete in every sport with a fence around Acadiana not letting any kids get away and not needing to bring any in.
But for every Walker Howard that passed over UL to go to LSU because he had that opportunity, there’s a local talent that UL passes over.
Can’t win them all and can’t take them all

Yes we know what prospects they signed. The 2025 class was just signed. In my opinion at least one of the kids was better than almost every prospect that was signed. Trust me talent/character/grades isn't why one of them isn't a Cajun.

So you’re saying UL didn’t recruit these kids? Is that what you’re alleging?

Never said that. Go read post #3. One of the kids they were on, one they wasn't.

Are they better players than the ones we have signed?

Ok, so what are you going way out of the way not to say? UL didn’t want that player, or that player didn’t want to come here. And you say it’s “political.” Why?

Both of those players would have loved to be Cajuns. I would have loved for that to happen also. I will not discuss why I feel that way. All I am saying is hopefully going forward the Cajuns truly get a fence around the state to get the better players before other schools do.

Not saying you aren’t accurate in your statements, but it seems like you may be to close to the situation and letting a little bias show.

No bias bud. I just want the best players to be UL players. It hurts to lose local studs to other programs.

They wanted to be Cajuns but UL “lost them”?

Re: This can't happen anymore.
Seems like all the other perennial top 25 teams missed on them as well.

Re: This can't happen anymore.
I think we all would love to have a fence around the area, particularly when it comes to one of our marquee sports. Sucks to lose them to a place as far away as that school. I’m obviously not as close as you are to the situation. However, generally speaking, it’s hard to predict sometimes how an 18 year old will react. Particularly with a new staff in place. Wish them both great success, and hopefully this staff will work hard to make sure we don’t lose out on someone like this in the future. Who knows, maybe they’ll transfer back?

Re: This can't happen anymore.
I’m still confused, did these athletes choose other school or did UL not recruit them hard enough/ or at all?

You must not know some of the other schools that offered.

That would be nice. Never say Never.
