Time to give Brad Boyd a shot.
I approve of hiring Brad Boyd immediately. He can be assisted by DaBoot and CajunMike with M$M taking over S&C. I'm serious, these four gentlemen could do way better than what the Cajuns have now. Lack of ticket sales and support doesn't even cover the coaching salary. These four guys would work for less and get more production.

Re: Time to give Brad Boyd a shot.
It's time for something different
I'd take BB over Marlin all day

Re: Time to give Brad Boyd a shot.
We got nothing to lose. BB3 would do well.

Maybe even Coach Chris as an option. Keep that Iberia parish coaching tree going.

I went to a NVMS game this season and they had more folks at the game then the Cajundome did today.

When DaBoot has had enough its time for a change.

Re: Time to give Brad Boyd a shot.
I would love for Brad to be the next head coach. But unfortunately, he needed to be a college assistant for the last few years to get his resume where it needs to be. What he needs to do is get on staff with whoever is next at HC.

Re: Time to give Brad Boyd a shot.
No disrespect to Boyd but he has no where near the experience or professionalism Marlin has.
Any replacement should be able to at least match what we already have.

Re: Time to give Brad Boyd a shot.
Maggard could hire a stray dog and I would be at the very next game to show my support for the program. As long as the fish is no longer there.

Re: Time to give Brad Boyd a shot.
Count me in with this. The big fish has met his peak and BB has something to give. Let the man cook.

There it is.
It’s NCAA Basketball. Professionalism went out the door a long time ago.
And I think Brad would do fine still in that category.

You aren’t serious are you?

Re: Time to give Brad Boyd a shot.
1. We obviously need to make a change
2. Our new coach should have more experience than youth basketball

We are a bottom 20 program in the country at the moment. With a fanbase that is nonexistent, yet the program is too prestigious for Brad?
Some of y’all are ridiculous.

LOl, it's amazing some people think a university should hire a coach without any college coaching experience and is currently coaching middle school.

Or discredit a person who was on staff here as a grad assistant. Runs a robust youth program, having to manage way more day to day activities than what a college program deals with. Already raises more money than the current staff. Hosts a tournament in the Cajun Dome which brings in 10 times the attendance that the Cajuns do.
Oh yeah let’s not even talk about the support a change would garner. Brad would triple the attendance.
But sure, let’s put our noses in the air and think this program is too good for Brad.

Re: Time to give Brad Boyd a shot.
Crazy how the ones that were against a dez hire are for a Boyd hire and are citing the exact same reasons

Never said I thought we're too good for anyone. Clearly, we are not.
No, Brad has spent the past however many years coaching kids, not grown men. Clearly, he's run an impressive operation. But this is an entirely different job.
It's obvious that Brad really, really wants this job, which is in his favor. But it sure seems like the person that you're going to hand the reins to a Division I job should have relevant experience.

If that’s directed at me, I’ve always been supportive of Desormeaux and look at that hire as a huge risk vs reward situation. Being critical of his playcalling isn’t not supporting him.
Brad could fail miserably, or he could be wildly successful. What he wouldn’t do is warrant a $675k salary. It would be likely a little less than half of that. But he’d have more support and likely much better recruiting than what we’ve seen.

The basketball program is NOWHERE near where the football program was when Napier left for Florida. Two completely different universes.
Idiotic to even try to make that comparison.
-
Re: Time to give Brad Boyd a shot.
I don't care who we hire. Take Cajuns Ball out of Hell. This legendary program, in Hell.

Basketball only takes the right hire to turn it around in one year.

Probably due to timing and the differences between coming off a top-20 ranking and a bottom-20 ranking.
