Louisiana football coach Michael Desormeaux is among the least-paid head coaches in the Sun Belt Conference, according to an updated USA Today salary database for 2024. At a reported salary of $772,800, Desormeaux is the 11th highest-paid coach in the Sun Belt Conference out of 14 teams.

I have no problem with this and neither did Coach Des when he signed his contract. He had no experience as a Coordinator in college football. He can make more money with the incentives in his contract for Bowl Games, Division and Conference Championships. He has to earn a pay raise.Quote:

Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of room for error in our spending practices. Outside of men's basketball, we are probably compensating our head coaches correctly for the experience AND production.

If, on the other hand, it’s true that Des is taking a lower salary to make sure his coaches get paid, that’s an entirely different story. So long as he wins with the right players, this could be a really good situation.
