I have no problem with this and neither did Coach Des when he signed his contract. He had no experience as a Coordinator in college football. He can make more money with the incentives in his contract for Bowl Games, Division and Conference Championships. He has to earn a pay raise.

Agree.

Just my snarky comment for the day, carry on...

HC salary is only part of the picture. Wonder what our entire staff gets paid, and how that compares to the rest of the conference?

He took less money originally so that his staff could be paid slightly more. What those numbers are, I have no clue.

Wasn’t it over 2 million when Napier was here? Did it stay? Increase or decrease?
Re: Desormeaux's Salary Ranking Among SBC Coaches
I don't see an issue. Des hasn't won anything yet. Let's at least get a winning season.

exactly.
Re: Desormeaux's Salary Ranking Among SBC Coaches
I have said since CMD was made the HFC that Louisiana hired the most coach we could afford at the time and that particular hire brought with it many, many, many intangibles which we could not have possibly have received or acquired with any other hire at the price we could afford (and maintaining a total coaching package payroll as we had/have in place) with similar or even slightly more experience, but a coach which would most certainly come here ONLY as a stepping stone in his career . . .

WTF? How much are you expecting them to pay a guy who is relatively new to college coaching and was our TE coach last year?
Re: Desormeaux's Salary Ranking Among SBC Coaches
This is a big nothing burger. What is the overall budget for the staff outside of the HC? If that has gone down, then I have a problem with it, but otherwise, this is fiscal responsibility on the part of Dr. Maggard paying the correct amount for who was hired.
Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of room for error in our spending practices. Outside of men's basketball, we are probably compensating our head coaches correctly for the experience AND production.

He isn't new to college coaching and he wasn't the TE coach last year.
Re: Desormeaux's Salary Ranking Among SBC Coaches
The only thing that concerns me is if we don’t have enough set aside for the entire staff. I’m old enough to remember what happened when the administration began to nickel and dime Stokley. If that’s what’s happening now, word will get out that we’re nothing but a bunch of tight wads.
If, on the other hand, it’s true that Des is taking a lower salary to make sure his coaches get paid, that’s an entirely different story. So long as he wins with the right players, this could be a really good situation.

I agree, hopefully his salary will increase as his winning percentage and bowl wins increase.

Re: Desormeaux's Salary Ranking Among SBC Coaches
Once CMD is judged by the other factors he had to deal with . . . Napier raiding his talent . . . NIL (and that we virtually had none available to CMD to compete for players) together with free transfer without sitting out . . . Levi Lewis graduating and moving on . . . to name a few . . . he probably was by far the best hire the administration could have made, so enjoy the gem we kept . . .

Perfectly stated.
