Lamar is taking over as Michigan DB coach.
Interesting. A few people on here will be very happy.
Is he the one that is still wearing a mask?
Wasn't a fan of his style of defense. This will complete a pretty big defensive staff overhaul. Des still didn't address what I think our biggest concern is with the strength and conditioning staff. We have regressed a ton under Neighbors.
Good he got a gig at a high-profile school, but his defenses were tough to watch sometimes. Played super aggressive and shut down D at times, then soft coverage, get eaten up for 500 yards D. Hopefully we make a good hire.
yes, bc national champion blue blood programs normally hire bad coaches, good grief. He was highly recommended by the DC who is leaving that program for the NFL.
Lamar is going to do great things. Defensive coordinator experience for an FBS school, transitioning to a more specialized role where he can learn some more for a highly storied program. He's going to be a force.
Thanks for being a Ragin' Cajun x2.
Wonder what we do at D Coord now.
This could be good. Our defense was average, nothing like when Napier was here.
So continues a really interesting trend of coaches from G5 schools taking lower position jobs at P4 schools. They realize the operating model is changing. The gap between P4 and G5 is going to get bigger. So you kind of have to get in the P4 club at closer to entry level then work your way up there. That's different than the CBN model.
Yes, it is interesting, and not a good sign for any school not in the top money making club. Even some of those in P4 are going to get left behind, head coaches of average P5's (UCLA) are taking lower level position jobs at top P5's. It's definitely changing the world of college football.
Wonder who Des has on his list of probable DC's. Maybe bring back Patrick Toney? What do ya'll think?
