Is the city of Lafayette still Cajun?
Check this out! Sold out for a Tuesday game against the Blue Chickens, and we are struggling to get 16k. All games are sold out of premium seating for the rest of the year.
There is also a waitlist for season tickets for the 2024 season!

Apps Fan Base lives with reasons why they attend. UL fan base is full of excuses why they don't/won't attend attend...
You are sooooo right. NC is full of pretty good football teams, UNC, Duke, ECU, NC State and Wake Forest (not great, but usually pretty good), but the App Fans are dedicated to App not to any of those other schools. I have been to plenty of App sporting events, and you will see this about their football fans, they will drive from GSO, CLT, RDU, which are all a minimum of 2 hours away to see App football on a Saturday. We cannot get fans to drive 20 minutes to see the Cajuns.
The other thing that is crazy to me, is we have such an open tailgating area right next to Cajun Field, App does not, they take over the town. When you are walking to the game tailgating is everywhere around the stadium. Parking towers, grassy areas, random parking lots. I have tailgated in Boone at the top of 2 different parking towers, a parking lot across from the stadium that was a strip mall and in the grassy area where the band usually comes out and pre-games.
Saturday's in Boone, NC are for real. And the state of NC has plenty of other options to watch or be entertained by.
Tired of trying to guess and worry about attendance. This team, while frustrating at times, is really fun to watch. People are missing out. If we get over 20k for homecoming I will be surprised.
I would like to know how much App State fans pay to tailgate around town? It sounds like they allow tailgating to be organic and make their money in sales.
Homecoming is typically one of the better crowds of the season. Looking at the last 7 years (sans 2020 due to covid.) We've averaged just over 21k. The best crowd being 28, 794 vs. TXST in 2021. That was an 11 am kickoff, by the way.
We can and should break 20k.
Weather looks great, even though it's a bit far out. It's homecoming. The Greeks (please) will be out. We're winning and playing another good team, so the matchup is exciting for those who at least know football.
My Aunt drove over from Ponchatoula to watch my niece her great niece dance. She hit a wooden block on I-10 that might have totaled her car. I went and picked her up and she still wanted to attend the game. She had a great time and liked the stadium and will come back. Lafayette just does not support this University. Never has. My aunt thought the game experience was great as she cheered on the Cajuns.
We don't know what time we play yet correct?
Less than 20K. Slam dunk.
4-2 at the halfway mark and this team seems to be improving.
Nothing is a guarantee with this team, but to me it looks like Arkansas State, ULM and USM are games we should win, Troy, Ga State and USA are going to be toss ups. If we win the games we are supposed to win (3) and even go 1-2 vs the others, we are in for an 8-4 season.
I think Troy and Georgia State scare me the most. We must win the USM, A-State and ULM games.
My order of toughness for the remaining schedule:
1. Troy
2. Georgia State
3. USA
4. USM
5. Arkansas State
6. ULM
That being said, #5 and #6 always give us tough games.
Hope you are wrong about the 20k, but you're right on about this team.
I'll take it a step further and say I'm about as excited in the Belt as ever. This is a good football conference and I think they rank tops in the "G5."
I always followed what the conference would do but didn't really seek out and watch the games on TV. I found myself doing that more and more the past few years. Even over some of the big games going on at the time nationally.
After homecoming, we have USM and ULM. Those should be somewhat of a draw just by the names, but our schedule overall has started to get a lot more interesting.
