Never heard of none of those players///
Re: Johnson gets shot to impress NBA execs
You must not follow much college basketball.
***Devan Downey (South Carolina) and Mikhail Torrance (Alabama) were two of the top guards in the SEC.
***David Kool (Western Michigan) was the MAC Player of the Year as a senior.
***Roman Martinez (New Mexico), a late fill-in for J.P. Prince (Tennessee), averaged 13.9 points and shot 41 percent from 3-point range for a top-10 team.
***Jeff Foote (Cornell) averaged 12.3 points and 8.1 rebounds for a Cinderella team in the NCAA Tournament.
***Jordan Eglseder (Northern Iowa) chipped in 11.8 points and 7.2 rebounds for another NCAA Tournament Cinderella and was All-Missouri Valley Conference.
***Ben Uzoh (Tulsa) was first team All-Conference USA. Anthony Johnson (Fairfield) and Edwin Ubiles (Siena) were All-MAAC. Theo Robertson (California) was All-Pac 10. Dior Lowhorn (San Francisco) was All-West Coast Conference.
***Stephen Dennis (Kutztown) was the Daktronics Player of the Year in Division II, and Laurence Ekperigin (LeMoyne) was a Division II All-American.

Re: Johnson gets shot to impress NBA execs
He's gotta clean those free throws up a little. Really solid stat line though

Dwight Lewis was also a pretty good player at USC, a 3 year starter in fact. He is originally from Kenner and played at Rummel High School. I know this because when I lived there he was still a kid and lived down the street from me

Man, none of those guys will make and NBA roster, maybe Downey from S.C.
Re: Johnson gets shot to impress NBA execs
What you fail to understand is that few PIT players get drafted every year. It's not because they're bad players. It's because there are always talented underclassmen leaving school early. A few of these guys will get drafted. Many others will be playing pro ball next season.

I think everyone understood what JP meant. Even before you so brilliantly clarified. Aren't you happy for the pub Tyren is getting by playing in this event?

Feel free to re-read what I wrote. It's a pretty clear message. Failing to get drafted by the NBA doesn't mean the end of the road for those guys. They can play overseas and in the NBA Development League. Some of those guys can even work their way into the NBA.
That's the exact message that the assistant director of NBA scouting has told me multiple times in the past few months.
Given that you've already admitted to know little about these players, I'm not surprised that you're ignorant about those possibilities. You go from saying you've never heard of those guys, then say that Downey could make it in the NBA? How would you know anything about that given that you didn't even know anything about him?
Re: Johnson gets shot to impress NBA execs
Tyren Johnson would actually be a good fit for the Hornets. I don't think the Hornets have a 2nd rd pick this year though.

Very much so. I was just saying that I would have thought I would have seen more big names on those two teams. Portsmith really is a good event, but the 4 man NBA workouts are where the real decisions are made by the execs on whether to draft you are not. IMO, portsmith is an event where a scout may see some one that might catch there eye, a guy they might have not have heard of or seen play. Most NBA scouts have a pretty good list already made up way before portsmith
Re: Johnson gets shot to impress NBA execs
The NBA's great for vanity and uber wealth, but a pro career in Europe's still better than nearly any job in the U.S. TJ worked his way into 6 figures last season, and will do very well in the near future. Hell, 5'10" 200lb. Khalid El Amin is a millionaire thanks to Turkish basketball.
