We need more business like this!
This was in an email I received from Lourdes this morning. I love it, and they have done a lot to support the Cajuns.

“Ragin’” means something different to us. It’s our promise to never quit and never give up on Acadiana.
We show it in how we cheer on our team. In how we look out for each other. It’s about going above and beyond – because that’s what Cajuns do. It’s about listening to the rage of the Cajuns and joining our voices with theirs. Because at Our Lady of Lourdes Health, we’re all Cajuns, and … We’re All Ragin’.

Million dollar companies can do this easily, but your mom and pops that barely have a website to speak of can't. If you said to a Marketing Senior at UL that they could help 50-100 companies that are small businesses assist them in supporting UL by creating something to either, be on their website or be blasted out in an email to customers that sign up for their newsletters/updates. Then this is free support to the community and to the athletic brand.
In the 2020-2021 year, UL graduated 61 students from the College of Business (Marketing Majors). So, let's say on average there are only 300 total students majoring in Marketing, I think there are way more than that. Group some of these in teams, some of the Juniors and Seniors working with some of the Freshman and Sophomore's to create 10 teams of 10 Marketing students and offer them extra credit to be part of a marketing team to help small businesses in Lafayette promote UL, both academically and athletically. That is only asking 1/3 of your students to be involved, if more want to do it, create more opportunities. 10 teams of 10 marketing students assisting small businesses in promoting your brand can only enhance the brand in your neck of the woods. All of this a small fee, investment from the small businesses.
100 business invest $1000 per year in UL. You just added $100,000 to your brand and the small business benefit by promoting themselves and UL at very little cost.
Now imagine if this plan takes off, 1000 businesses at $1000 per year and you are now talking about $1,000,000 in revenue for the university. I would break this up into multiple categories. A $500 investment for small businesses, a $1000 investment for small businesses, a $2500 investment for small businesses and a $5000 investment for small businesses. Each level gets you different benefits and features of the UL College of Marketing. Put a Marketing professor or marketing executive in charge of this program and assist them in putting this out to the community.

Very interesting thought you’ve just posted. Is this going to peter out after about 5 years to a trickle?

We don’t do that here.

Re: We need more business like this!
Or would it be better of a hospital did not have so much extra money to donate and simply charged patients less?

Re: We need more business like this!
Not exactly on topic, but just wanted to say Guidry Hardware on Jefferson is a UL supporter. Always UL stuff on/in the windows. No Tigger poop. Try and shop there if you can.

They are a perfect example of the type of company I am talking about here.

Hopefully it would not with the right person directing the program. You have new people coming in, but that is why I said have the Freshman and Sophomore's work with the Juniors and Senior's so that after they graduate, the Freshman and Sophomores are ready to lead the new people in the program. Plus, with the right director you it won't peter out. It would continue.

Guess I was thinking about small to medium businesses getting fished out.

Re: We need more business like this!
Lourdes is a first class organization. Doing some work with them now. Be looking for a physician clinic going up in youngsville.
That being said, not looking to patronize them any time soon.

Some things you hope you pay for and never need.
Fire, life, auto insurance. Lourdes hospital.

Re: We need more business like this!
. . . they are only asking you to use them if you do have a use and they are demonstrating why, in such unfortunate instance you should use them, the least bit should be because they are a Louisiana supporter . . .

To take this idea a step further....Call it the FDL Circle. Each supporting small business gets a full size white or black FDL flag, along with the other stuff...in addition to student help, each member gets a hands on meeting/session with a UL professor, and one time annual meeting of all members featuring guest speakers from the university...

____ I work for a company where the founders went to LSU but they are based in Lafayette and are a corporate sponsor for the Cajuns

Re: We need more business like this!
Good to see that "Covid" money coming in for something useful

Re: We need more business like this!
Volunteer at Lourdes with bride. Friday is Wear Red and Ragin Cajun day.

Re: We need more business like this!
Super One foods is an official sponsor of the Ragin' Cajuns. A large sign in my Super One at Bonin Road and Ambassador Caffery proudly proclaims this. I'm checking out and look over at the manager's office. The door is open and there is a large LSU plaque on the wall with Mardi Gras beads dangling from it. I almost threw up. NOT shopping there anymore if I can help it.

Re: We need more business like this!
. . . they do need to make money to be a supporter . . . would you prefer that they not give to Louisiana, not qualify as an official sponsor of Louisiana and just put a plaque on the wall in a private office with Louisiana on it and some red and black beads hanging on it . . . it’s things like this that cause businesses and people to just say F-it, it’s not even worth trying with that school . . .

Re: We need more business like this!
about that store; it is convenient to me on way home, but i find the aisles layout odd. however, the "bbq" seasoned rotisserie chicken is the best there is, at any store around. superb.

Super One pays a lot of money to UL in order to be the official grocery store. If you’re going to ignore that because the manager has an LSU plaque, you’re misguided
