French + Cajuns. Seems to fit.
Re: French pitcher to join the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns
those are two very different things . . .
Re: French pitcher to join the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns
why does he have to go to juco first?
Re: French pitcher to join the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns
He played at that juco last year. This will be his 2nd year there. He was not great there. He needs to improve. He had a 5.04 era in juco. My take is he probably has a huge upside but needs more experience
Re: French pitcher to join the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns
The answer is once you go Juco, you must finish your juco obligation before being eligible again to play D1
Re: French pitcher to join the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns
wow! thanks. i had no idea….. and do you need an associates degree to transfer all credits? or could you transfer and sit out the old fashioned way?

To play right away you have to graduate from juco.
You might be able to come in on your own dime and get qualified before you play but I am not sure of the exact rule there.

Prior to the free transfer rules, in order not to sit out on a transfer from Juco you had to graduate from the Juco. Not sure now . . .
Re: French pitcher to join the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns
thank you, makes sense. valuable info!
Re: French pitcher to join the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns
hopefully the same academic requirements applied to all sports
Re: French pitcher to join the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns
I could be wrong, and I usually am, but I do not think the transfer rules apply to Jucos because they are not part of the NCAA. So I think the rule remains the same.
Re: French pitcher to join the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns
I will try and get clarification on the rule.

In years past if you were academically eligible when entering a JC, you could transfer to a 4 year university at any time. If you were not eligible when entering the JC, you then needed to graduate from the JC before being eligible at the 4 year.

If you attended JC to play a sport because you needed development and you were academically eligible out of HS, you can transfer after 1 Year of JC. That was the rule unless it's changed. Of course your hours have to be transferable.

You can leave JUCO whenever you want and play immediately. You could in theory leave after the fall and be on a Spring D1 opening day roster......

I believe the rule about completing Juco obligations may be only when you transfer into Juco after starting at D1

I don't think so, A lot of guys transfer into JUCO from D1 after the fall if they are not going to play or instead of taking a redshirt. A lot of those guys go back to D1 (most of the time a different one) the following fall after they have had a chance to play and improve.
