https://www.espn.com/college-footbal...ankings-week-2
Look, I know folks on this site are going to poo poo the espn power rankings. But this is as high as we have EVER been on ANY poll!
Congratulations, Cajuns!!!!
Sun Belt is also the Headliner on the site.
I have LONG been a "hater" of the SBC, but this Conference is finally doing well enough to surprise the other haters....
Perception my be changing.
SBC: Football power rankings
1. Louisiana (3-0, 2-0 SBC)
Last week: No. 1
The Ragin’ Cajuns didn’t lose and for a week dropped out of the national polls. Louisiana didn’t play last weekend and moved back into The Associated Press and USA Toda Coaches’ polls (both at No. 23).
When they finally do play, if the schedule sticks (and that’s a big if), it will a huge matchup with the sizzling Chanticleers. UL crushed CCU 48-7 on national TV in 2019, getting some redemption for a 30-28 loss to CCU in 2018.
Up next: Hosts Coastal Carolina at 7:30 p.m. ET on Oct. 14, ESPN.

Re: Sun Belt football power rankings
We have had our close calls and persevered. We have a couple more tests on the schedule but our coaches will have them ready barring major Covid issues. Be cautious but have faith.

Interesting numbers. Wish we could play Michigan or Penn St this year. Both have pretty bad teams. Esp. Michigan. But they have high power rankings. Based on what? Budget?

Kind of dumb index if the team a spot higher (#35) is 2-6 with 3 cancelations.

Re: 2020 ESPN Power Index Rankings
LTURd in triple digits. Not all that far from ULM. That made me happy.
Re: UL Moves Up in the ESPN Power Index
The writer DOES explain the 2-6 team is there because of less than one score losses that occurred late in game.
He claims the poll is “predictive” and not a reflection of “current” performance (whatever that means).
I agree though how can a 2-6 team be anywhere near a 9-1 (or 10-0) team under any formula??
Beats me...
