Football Season: Reasons to be negative.
Then there's the UL Ragin' Cajuns fans.
It was a somewhat disappointing 2016 season, followed by a turbulent offseason for the program. In the court of public opinion, the Mark Hudspeth era is definitely at a crossroads.
The apprehension surrounding the 2017 Cajuns, though, ranges farther than just the head coach's popularity rating.
Re: Sure you're ready for football season?
Season is coming up and this is the least excited I have been about a season in a while
Re: Sure you're ready for football season?
The southeastern game is huge. Win and we have hope. Lose and I cant fathom the outrage and Dr. Maggard better be hustling some buy out $$$

I think angeleast is just saying that we will get a good glimpse at what our season will look like in that first game

Exactly.. Thanks
Re: Sure you're ready for football season?
I am ready. I'll say it again: when expectations have been low, Hudspeth teams have come up big. Our players have a lot to play for, and in some ways, a couple guys are playing to get their dignity back. I for one, never bet against a dog that's been backed into a corner.
This team, I believe, will progress as the season progresses. I think we need to approach this year with patience. Unfortunately, our schedule is not conducive to that. We jump in pretty quickly. I think it's vital to see some substantial cohension in week 1 against a team we should beat handledly. I don't typically buy into the rent-a-win theory of scheduling, but in this case, I think it serves a huge purpose. Having said that, SLU is coming here to win, and they have talent. We need to be ready right away.
Not many will agree here, but I think we win at Tulsa. I think we have to win at Tulsa. I think if Hud wants to turn this thing around, I think it starts in Tulsa. Completely new personnel up and down the roster, especially offensively, which is their calling card. I think we match up well defensively, and if we can sustain drives on the ground, we will win. I know for a fact the team has W next to their schedule sheet for their goals for wins this year.
Re: Sure you're ready for football season?
The only season Hud actually did much better than expected was his first. No doubt almost nobody on this board was offering anything except optimism in 2015. The fact that we went bowling last year wasn't a great turnaround.
Re: Sure you're ready for football season?
This season will 100% revolve around the QB's and their ability to utilize the excellent group of WR's we have.
The RB position will be an after thought in the gameplan until a leader emerges there.
No doubt that Coach Hall was brought in to save the patient on the operating table. Let's hope he can find some witch doctor magic in the swamp and give Davis a bionic arm in the process.
Re: Reasons to be hopeful for football season
God you people can be a sorry bunch. If you can't get up for college football in July, y'all should take up fishing or something..
Re: Sure you're ready for football season?
I predict the local newsrag coverage will suck again. The summer workouts are showing it.

We're definitely a grumpy, down in the doldrums bunch this summer. Maybe it's all the rain! Nothing winning can't cure.

You don't get to say whose a supporter. They pay their money, show up and cheer. If they do any they're supporters.
Re: Reasons to be hopeful for football season
Every individual has their own timeline of readiness.
I don't think it is fair to label a fan in July.

......Lookin' back on last year we were 6-6-----If there are acceptable losses they were Georgia, Appy, and Boise----2 losses were one score differentials on the road....Idaho loss at home hurt but we won 4 of our last 6 I think......the Bowl was a could of against a much improved S Miss team...... If the O L can mature, we have the skilled athletes to put up points....fg kicker is acceptable but man we lost a great punter..... Defense lost 2 very good LBs!!!

The RB position will never be an afterthought, especially if JD is unable to implement the full playbook and we have to fall back on the ugly power running game we've tried master the last few years.
