I was waiting for this announcement to see if he would keep his word. He threw a number of programs off earlier this week announcing his final 5 and UL wasn't in it. Congrats to Coach Marlin and his staff for landing his best HS recruit since becoming HC at UL. UL will be load in 2017 to make another NCAA Tournament run with the transfers and this signee. There will be no excuses with that talent next year.

No doubt there will be pressure on the program to produce in 2016-17 with the infusion of talent that is coming into the program. However we still have this season to play and folks who went to the scrimmage last night tell me we may surprise some folks. I had a prior commitment and was unable to attend. Back to the original post, congratulations to the staff for garnering this commitment. I believe Kevin Johnson was the key assistant here who landed the guy. This was hinted at by some staff members during the recent RCAF function so it is not a total surprise to some. I had one tell me our focus was on a guard from the Alexandria area. Of course we could not share that here at the time. Now, the key will be garnering the signature in a couple of weeks when the early signing period begins.
Re: Big Basketball Recruit
WOW!!!!
This kid passed up some big-time programs to play for us. Next year is going to be sweet!!!
Re: Big Basketball Recruit
No doubt about it, big get by Marlin and staff.
Re: Big Basketball Recruit

It's available 24/7 when good work is done.

Haven't seen much of it at all really. Even when Elfrid went pro or Shawn
Re: Big Basketball Recruit
Nicely done. Coach Marlin and the staff seemed like they've done an excellent job building for the future. Let's hope this year has some surprises too.
Edit: just saw the kid's list of schools- VCU, Texas Tech, Houston, NC State, SMU, LSU-BR, Latur.

Re: Big Basketball Recruit
Let's not forget about the possibilities Herman Williams would have brought to the table with this team.
Re: Big Basketball Recruit
This kid is already my favorite player and he's still in high school (Lafayette-Louisiana drop aside...I'll put that one on Savoie because why not).

You the Man!!
Re: Big Basketball Recruit
I hope someone lent him that purple shirt. It would have been a shame for him to buy it unless he intended on burning it at some point.

The kid seems to be a little full of himself. He claims here that he will be the starting 2 guard as a freshman and sophmore then transition to the 1 as a Junior and Senior. I wonder if Frank Bartley and Marcus Stroman have been informed that one of them will be watching him play from the bench next year?

What I heard him say is that the coaches told him they thought he could be a starting 2 for 2 years then transition to the 1 guard spot.

Confidence can be a good thing. However, many kids in HS presume they will be able to continue to dominate at the next level. They receive a rude awakening once they arrive. I won't turn his signature down at this stage due to what may be a little over-confidence.

Do you know where Patrick went Mike? He also recruited their big guy, one and done with the 6'ers; could be a short leash on lsu coach now without that level of talent coming in.
