How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
Or basketball crowd.. Football crowd, etc?
I hear this term very often and the conflict with the MBB tourney and softball got me thinking about it. I go and give to the 4 majors (football/MBB/baseball/softball) and to a smaller extent try to support the golf team whenever I can, but if I had to 'identify', I'm probably part of the 'baseball crowd'.

the 3 majors for me, with softball right behind them.
ETA: whatever sport is in postseason gets the nod. id be at a bowl game before a saturday hoops game. id be in new orleans for basketball before baseball or softball weekend. would be at softball regional rather than final weekend for baseball.
Re: How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
Baseball Football Cant tell you which one first
Re: How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
It has to be a tie for me between baseball and football.
I get really amped up and excited for football games. Probably due to the pageantry of it all, the tailgating, the place it has in the culture of the south. It's an full blown event paired with a football game.
I feel at home watching baseball at the Tigue. It's still exciting, but for the most part you can relax and enjoy a good ball game. The crowd is always great and there are a lot of familiar faces every time you go.
Then softball, basketball in that order.

Does my avatar give it away?? 30+ years
Re: How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
Football and Baseball are 1A and 1B with me.
Re: How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
Baseball, the only season tickets I buy but I love going to basketball games as well. I'd probably prefer to watch football on TV

Re: How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
Baseball and football are almost apples and oranges.
Football:
- 6 home games & for most of us its a full day event.
- Attending football games become a priority because there are only 6 games and again, most of us have quite a bit of money "invested".
Baseball:
- there is nothing more relaxing/fun than to sit at The Tigue and watch as baseball game.
- I wish I could attend every game but attending mid-week games become less of a priority when we have kid activities & school
With that said there is no doubt, if I could only choose 1 sport, I am a part of "the baseball crowd".

good post
Re: How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
Baseball, football, softball, basketball in that order
Re: How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
Baseball. The only season tickets I've ever had. Except this year. :-(
Re: How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
Huge basketball guy, here. I am kicking myself for not appreciating football when I was here. As for baseball, I never really liked it until I was living in Chicago and went to Wrigley. Still don't care for it much, but I'll be out there on opening day.
Re: How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
Basketball >> football >>> baseball
I thoroughly enjoyed myself at baseball games last year and this is my second year of baseball season tickets but basketball to me is night and day better
Re: How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
I have season tickets for three sports. But if I had to rank them it would be:
1A - Football
1B - Baseball
3 - Basketball
Re: How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
I am a baseball first guy. They say you always remember the first girl you fall in love with, for me it was baseball. That being said basketball is a very close second and softball a close third. Football is a very distant 4th and maybe even 5th. For many reason this fall I decided I was not going to get invested in football anymore. It is now a social event for me, I see my friends, drink a few beers and maybe a few more bourbons. Winning or losing takes does not excite me one way or the other. I hope we have a winning team and I will go to a bowl, but I would rather see a NCAA Sweet 16/Final Four, WCWS or WS wins for our teams. Those are sports we have a more realistic shot at a national championship. We will never see, in my lifetime, a mid-major football team in the football playoff. The big boys will not allow it.
Re: How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
something to think about could be the level of the sport itself....for example NFL football then NCAA, MLB then college baseball (if not AAA, AA, etc then college- but that would be a different thread), then NBA then NCAA hoops. for this reason I would lean towards Softball as NCAA softball is arguably already at the top rank of its sport. (unless Olympics gets reinstated but then that is only every four years)
Re: How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
Professionally, it's whatever sport is in season.
Personally, it's baseball, basketball then football
Softball has become completely unwatchable for me.
Re: How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?
Softball first, then basketball. I feel the same way about baseball that Jay feels about softball. I don't hate baseball, just too slow. Different perspectives I guess.
