The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns have dropped the Lafayette portion of their name and are looking to build their new brand. The 2014 Louisiana Ragin Cajuns Schedule does have some really tough games on the schedule, but they might be the best team in the Sun Belt Conference.

Go back and find Luke Johnson (new Advocate UL beat writer) and read what was there. They aren't gong to U-L-L us to death like they have in the past. THey're going to use Cajuns and Ragin' Cajuns more than ever before.

Anytime you see an article like this it's progress. However, the state newspapers outside of Lafayette will be slow and/or reluctant to come around on the name issue (if they ever do at all). Especially one based in a city where there's a university that insists that we "know our place."
I'd be happy if someone just notified our administration and our conference. :p

Turbine, don't get stuck on stupid! The Acadiana addition of the Advocate will eventually call us Louisiana or Ragin' Cajuns if they want their circulation to increase. It usually comes down to business decisions and to opportunity to increase the bottom line. I'm not telling people they should buy the Advocate, but they should read the UL coverage because they now have a full time beat writer. That has never happened in the modern era of UL Football. UL wins either way with more coverage to others outside of the Lafayette or Acadiana area.Quote:
