RUSTON, La. -- Louisiana Tech athletics director Tommy McClelland says Bulldog coach Wade Simoneaux has been fired after 12 seasons.
The decision, announced Monday, comes after Louisiana Tech finished 15-35, including 5-25 in Conference USA in what was the Bulldogs' maiden season in the league.
McClelland says a national search for Simoneaux's replacement starts immediately, but he's not giving a timetable for a hiring.

WOW. They only made 6 conference tournaments in 12 years? Hate to see that. For Wade, I mean. Not for Tech.

First, not demeaning the decision which probably had to be made, but I do find it interesting that schools will get rid of a coach who works on a limited budget and has to work to build a program and then go out and spend more money and guarantee a bigger budget for the sport. I agree that good coaches find talent others overlook despite the budget. ULM has done a good job of that for years in many sports and I respect them for that.
