Re: Baseball American Top 25
This is respect! Even the few times we've been ranked in the other polls, we usually aren't ranked by them.
Re: Baseball American Top 25
According to the article, it is our highest preseason ranking ever.

"60: Above-average. Strong Omaha contender. (Vanderbilt, Oregon, UCLA, Clemson, Louisiana-Lafayette)"
Lot's of respect from Baseball America, which is considered a very reputable site for college baseball.

With Austin we know we have a Friday night starter, with Baranik hopefully we have that solid #2 guy, and I'm not sure who #3 is but we do return Cody Boutte and Chris Griffit. We also get the tall Texas kid in Bazar. And the only real loss we had was losing Dex Kjerstad but man...this lineup looks stacked. For all that is holy I hope we don't lay an egg but one cannot help but be excited at the possibilities in front of this team.

Look for Milhorn to be the number 3 guy. Bazar will be a relief guy. He has a mid nineties fastball, which is great, but only one secondary pitch (curveball) that he doesn't throw very well. Guys at this level can turn that mid nineties fastball around in a hurry.

So who has the definitive ranking? With all of these different polls, do we take the average ranking or is there one poll that you can say "yeah, that's our rank?"

I say we do the same thing LSU and their greasy fanbase does...go with the highest ranking.

Fair enough. #14 Louisiana it is.

So shall it be written...so shall it be done.
Re: Baseball American Top 25
I think that having a strong and consistently good arm like Boutte during the midweek games is huge for this team getting to 50+ wins. Those super regional teams have a plethora of arms and they usually dominate on weekdays because they aren't trying to throw a combination of 5 or 6 guys during the week to compensate for lack of weekend arms. This team should be deep on the mound and our hitters are really good 1-9. It's early, but we will win a ton of games this year.

The Cajun1300 preseason poll (4 voters) has the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns ranked #12.
Re: Baseball American Top 25
HOT DAMN. I really hope Robe is lecturing the players on what happened back in 2008 after we were ranked to start the season. These kids need not buy into the hype.
Stay the course from last year, because we do not have an easy opening couple of weeks. I really hope we can handle all the hype and just perform like we know we can.
Come on Cajuns, let's have a stellar season!

I'm not sure, I believe so. But 2007 we almost won the Texas A&M Regional and then 2008 we started the season ranked #18 by Baseball America and fell flat on our face. Really hope our guys are mature enough to play their game and not take anything for granted.

If we were, the folks who did the rankings weren't paying attention. I think we lost 3/4 of the starters (both field and pitching) from the 2000 team.

I think that season we had some serious injuries to our pitching staff.
Re: Baseball American Top 25
I think the 2000 season roughly 9 kids were drafted off of that team.
