so many ways to make back 4 runs in 3 inns. unfornunately it takes someone hitting the ball.
Surprise, surprise... No timely hitting so far by the Cajuns. One major pitching mistake by Nicholson cost us big. But, you knew coming in that we would have to score some runs to win, and we just have struggled mightily at that all season long.
Now what do we have to do to reach the tourney???? Not another one of these---At least we are not hosting!!!
2 runs in a hitters ballpark = not real good. It will be a huge huge task to make the tourney, IMO. And not making the tournament should never be accepted.
This team has totally collapsed offensively. And the "we're young" BS doesn't cut it.
Our pitching was depleted for the 02 regional before we even showed up. I don't remember exactly what happened but there were some injuries and our starting rotation didn't have any depth. We beat Tulane in game one and LSU in game two. Andy Gros pitched a complete game against LSU and didn't give up a run. I remember Gonegolfin and I talking about the fact that we had little left in the pen. It showed too as LSU trounced on us. We used nine pitchers in those two games.
For the 01' tournament the UL players got the "honor" of field mainteance for the tournament. You have to think that gave them motivation for the 02' season.
My take is its always something. Robichaux has more excuses than Carter has liver pills but somehow he draws fans better than any Baseball Coach we have ever had. I don't know - go figure. I think he must be a great salesman. Farmer should take some control from him and force him to get a hitting coach and give the new coach some real power in recruiting. We have got to have a more balanced team to get better.
Anyone ever wonder how much better this program would be if we could hit. Year in and year out we pitch, but if we hit...we could really dominate our conference. I think it's as glaring of a issue than ever before right now
So what is the record since Trahan left????
