I'll say this. Our old friend Tommy McClelland is the AD at Rice now. If he pulls this off, then I would vote that we officially retire the Tommy soundbite forever.
I mean, who else would they be looking at?

Marlin has zero fear of being fired. Why would you leave that kind of security?

I was mostly joking at first, but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense on both sides.
For Bob, he knows he’s getting fired within a couple of years, right? Even he doesn’t have his head in the sand that much. So at 65 years old, he has a chance to go out in a few years at a program that can be perceived as a high caliber than UL (even though it isn’t).
For Rice, they get a tenured coach with history in the state of Texas, who has credentials on paper. Plus, he graduates players :)
It’s a win-win.

I disagree about him being fired. I believe he will retire here. Our admin doesn’t care enough about winning. For them what he does, is good enough. Unless he does something to embarrass UL, he will be here as long as he wants.
I also see the same thing happening with football. Des will not be let go. As long as he keeps his nose clean and doesn’t completely tank, he will be set for life.

Tommy Mac has McNeese roots, former AD before Tech. WW definitely on his radar.

Every time the fish opens his mouth I’m embarrassed.
