Re: Baseball week 11 rpi - May 14
Can anyone estimate what approximate affect winning 0, 1, 2, and 3 games this weekend would have on our standing?

according to warrennolan.com, the expectation is that we are going to lose all three games and he has our predicted RPI at 46. He has us losing 3 fairly close games, in fact yesterday it showed us winning 1 of them.
So if he is accurate, if we could pull 2 of the 3 games, I think our RPI would be somewhere in the upper 30's/low 40's possibly even higher obviously allot depends on what happens with the teams in front of us.
I wouldn't have said this 2 weeks ago, but sweeping Texas State and possibly sweeping USM would probably lock us into the tournament, specifically if we can make a mini run in the tournament, meaning winning a couple of games and getting to the semifinals or beyond.

One of the things we have going for us is our record vs Q1 teams, currently we are 6-7 vs Q1 teams. That is why the USM games are so important. If we go 2-1 we would be 8-8, that is strong. But much of that depends on Texas State staying in the top 50.

Don't they get ULM? Even if they sweep, strong chance they are out of Q1?

yes, and that could really hurt us.

I'm still pinning my hopes to the tournament. As we saw with softball, narrative matters. Sweeping USM would improve our narrative, but we fell completely out of the national conversation for most of the season.

Also hurts that those TX State games are at home for TX State. Wouldn't hurt as much if the series was in Monroe.
TX State plays @TCU tonight. Hopefully they recover and capture a nice road win.

Yes, we all need to be pulling for Texas State tonight. Here are the games tonight we need to be watching for some help.
Campbell over ECU
Coastal over UNC
JMU over Va Tech
Marshall over Morehead State
South Al over SLU
Rice over PVA&M
Texas State over TCU
McNeese over LSU (due to the fact that we played McNeese twice).
