Conflict Week

On Wednesday February 22 and Friday February 24 there will be conflicts involving Cajun sports. Both the Women's and Men's basketball teams will have home games on those days. The baseball team will open the home season on Wednesday February 22 against BYU. It is a four game series so baseball will aslo play on Friday February 24 at home. Therfore, we will have baseball/basketball conflicts on both those days. Basketball will also require the arena be cleared following the women's game before men's ticket holders will be allowed to enter the Dome. That goes for both Wednesday and Friday. In fact, that will also be the policy this Thursday when the women play ULM at 5 and men play Texas State at 5:30. Going back to the late February conflicts, ESPN will televise a SBC game on Friday Feb. 24. That along with the conference tournament starting the next week is why the last week of conference play is a Wednesday and Friday format. It is possible the Cajuns will be chosen for the Friday Feb. 24 ESPN game. I don't think that will be determined until mid-February at the earliest. South Alabama is the opponent that night. The game could also have impact on the regular season title and conference tournament seeding. Now, I am not here to recommend any fans go to any particular game vs another as what people do with their money/time is solely their business. I am just pointing out that there will be conflicts in order for people to make plans accordingly.

The men's game Thursday night is scheduled for 7:30.

Yes it is with the women starting at 5. Of course if the women's game goes long, it could delay men's start. On the other hand, if women finish early I don't think men will start before 7:30. I am sure Jay and the other folks involved with radio broadcasting are making plans to insure all sports are covered accordingly.

As long as the mardi gras barricades are removed...oh wait, that's on the 21st....going to be crazy alright!

It will all be fine. This won't be a problem, the street fair usually starts breaking down Tuesday night, LCG has gotten proactive about cleaning the mess up quicker. My wife even put a Toyota Camry airborn southbound at the S. College/ Johnston turtleback Mardi Gras night years back just to show you how dead things get after the last parade. It's pretty empty by 8 PM.

If you've been around for any length of time, you know the spring overlap is pretty crazy. And, while it hasn't caused any sleepless nights, this year is particularly interesting.

On the weekend before Mardi Gras, all four of the teams we cover are on the road. Cody isn't available because he's taking his kids to see the mouse. Topham isn't available because he's very involved in the festivities.

That weekend, and the following week as CajunsMike pointed out, are particularly difficult. We will get everything on the radio because that's what we are charged to do.

Before Mardi Gras: Men's basketball is home vs ULM on Thursday and then at James Madison Saturday. Women's basketball is at ULM and Arkansas State. Baseball opens at Rice and Softball is playing in the Clearwater tournament. Clearwater is particularly tough because the team will be gone Wednesday to Wednesday and I don't have anyone who can be away from their real job that long. So.....Steve will handle women's basketball. Ian will take care of men's basketball. Dan McDonald will head to Rice for baseball and I'll be in Clearwater with softball.

The following week is what Mike referred to. We have a doubleheader with men's and women's basketball on Wednesday. Steve will handle both broadcasts. I'll get an early flight out of Orlando Wednesday morning (the girls are flying back in the afternoon) and will be home in time for baseball's home opener. (I'm not going to ask Ian to jump in because basketball is Wednesday/Friday and he has a real job in New Orleans). I'll do baseball on Thursday. Steve will handle women's basketball on Friday and I'll take care of the men's broadcast. Cody will be done with the mouse and will take care of Friday baseball. I'll handle Saturday baseball while Cody does softball.

You may not hear the voice you're accustomed to hearing for the various sports, but we'll staff them all.

Could they let the women's attendees stay and relocate away from season ticket holders if needed. Maybe end zones? Would help attendance and atmosphere.
