OK, how in the heck did we do this?
I know the UL has a lot to offer, and clearly Hud can sell icewater to an eskimo, but how in the name of all that is holy did we get this RB Griffen? I've watched the videos, you cannot arm tackle this guy, he punishes people once he gets past the line, he's big and fast and played for the best High School in the country.
Is it strictly him not being eligible? Doesn't seem like that would scare off to many people. He seems too good to be true.
I sure hope I actually get to see him play at Cajun Field for 4 years.....
However we got him, if he's reading this board WELCOME HOME!
Re: OK, how in the heck did we do this?
The biggest deterent is that he has not taken the ACT yet.
Re: OK, how in the heck did we do this?
Its all academics that scared the SEC schools off. From what T said, he maybe didnt feel he would test well in the ACT so he never took it. But since Hud started recruiting him, he's gotten his core GPA up and is taking prep courses for the ACT and will test in Feb.
If he does well enough, there's no past score to go back on and withhold eligibility like they did with Rob Walker, so that's a plus.
Re: OK, how in the heck did we do this?
This has been brought up numerous times. He has not yet taken the ACT (takes it Feb 14 or something like that) so he isn't eligible and that has scared off teams. If he took it eariler and became eligible, he would be a high ranked recruit (probably 4 star) and would have committed to a SEC school most likely. If he becomes eligible and no BCS teams lure him away if/when he becomes eligible, he would be a HUGE steal

He made the comment that he was appreciative that Hud believed in him enough to offer him even though he hadn't taken the ACT exam yet. CajunT said that every SEC school would have been on him had he had a qualifying score.

He can sign a NLOI before he is eligible and before the test, thus locking him in here. And from everything he's said, he's a Cajun. If he isnt eligible, BJ mentioned he has no desire to play JUCO, so he would grayshirt, get his grades in order, then come back next year.

isn't signing day BEFORE the act test date? Wouldn't he be a cajun no matter what? How could another school lure him away if he is already signed here? Am I missing something?
Re: OK, how in the heck did we do this?
Well he looks like a monster get.
Maybe we have our replacement for the T train.......
Re: OK, how in the heck did we do this?
Holy shiznit, yeah there's no other reason that guy shouldn't have 4 or 5 stars. With a decent OL and even a half-assed passing game, you should brutalize the Belt with that guy. It'd be interesting to have him face off against the Dawgs while we still have Lennon Creer, and see if we can set an overall game rushing yard record, hahaha. I haven't followed your team terribly closely recently, so do you have any good backs to run in tandem with him or provide some extra blocking? Do your WRs block well? What kind of offense is Hudspeth supposed to install, and how do you imagine it utilizing a possible stud like Griffin?

Sorry for some reason I guess I believed that a player couldn't sign a NLOI until he is declared eligible.
