Meanwhile in Ruston...

While we sit back and try to work out our ways to grow our brand and build our stadium, I look to the north and see a program that looks defeated. Amazing how just a decade ago, they came out and talked about "separation" from the rest of us when joining CUSA. Now, their conference is about become something that we wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole in 3 days. They even cancelled their basketball camp coming up in July because no one signed up for it.

Oh well. This is what happens when you burn bridges with peers that could've helped you.

And to think, when Mike White (current UGA MBB HC) left Ruston to become the UF HC, Dusty May (top Mike White asst.) badly wanted the Tech HC gig but was passed over.

Dusty May, now the HC at FAU, who just took them to the Final Four and will likely have a preseason Top 10 ranking.

History of bad decisions up there.

Almost feel bad for them. They had a rabid online presence and reveled at our misfortunes from 00's through the 2010's. Now I look at them like a neutered fanbase. Reminds me of Theon Greyjoy character arc; just have to wait for their redemption story.

Would not mind being conference mates down the road with them, or throwing them an OOC lifeline.

And zero animal deaths this semester?

If their administration ever gets over the pettiness with our Louisiana brand name then yes - their arrogance is disgusting.

We already have a games scheduled with them in '26 and '29 I believe

It's just hilarious because a few years ago when their former AD made those comments about us moving "up to a level like Conference USA," their fans were doing victory laps all over social media. Since then, CUSA has lost 9 teams (3 of which are now in the Sun Belt) while adding powerhouses like Jacksonville St, Kennesaw State, and Sam Houston. And it wouldn't surprise me if La Tech was trying to get into the exact conference behind the scenes that they have bashed over the last 3 decades.

Again, they wanted separation. Well now, they got separation.
