There are way more seats than that in the upper deck. I’m actually pretty sure that there are more seats in the upper deck than the west side lower bowl beneath it.

The upper deck is obnoxiously large. Way more than 5,300. The lower level west side has more seats, but not by some huge margin.

The number came from the Lemoine issued master plan document in 2013. There are right at 8,000 in the lower bowl on the home side.

Thought they were spreading out the existing seating. Meaning less seats per row. Less total capacity.

That is the plan. Wider seats spaced out more for convenience and comfort.

Until the "child care facility" in the north end zone is either closed off or redeveloped the stadium size is irrelevant and will always seem to look empty.
