What he said has been known for decades. Alabama and Tennessee, Auburn and Georgia. LSU fans hate being paired with Florida who has been the top East program for decades until the recent Georgia rise. They especially think that the two Mississippi teams have gotten a pass on their permanent East opponents

There is always a better way. What the sunbelt doesn’t have that the SEC had when they made their split is the long time history and already developed rivalries. Heck as someone trying to win a conference championship give me Ga St every year before Marshall, App St, or JMU. I could care less about how attractive it is to the casual fan. I want the best chance to get into the championship game at Cajun field. That should be very attractive to the casual fan.
I am not an LSU fan at all but if I were I would have much preferred Vanderbilt or Kentucky over the years rather than Florida.

New playoff format will require a better SOS. App / Marshall/ JMU is much more likely to boost that than GAST.

Getting to the championship game and beating one of them in the ship will take care of that and you have a very good chance that one of the 3 will be your rotating opponent.

You indirectly answered your own whine......simply beat one of these in the championship game.
Re: SBC 2023 cross division football games
Meanwhile in MBB, USM, the SBC's highest rated team has a NET rating is 65. Only downhill from there.

That is a valid point in mentioning the age of the conference. But they can certainly put something on the table for discussion. It's highly unlikely you will get all to approve it, but trying to build a consensus is the first step.
