I don't think there was complete seperation, but Evans never cared about athletes graduating besides giving lip service to the idea. Bottomline, the head coach makes all final decisions. Lee stayed because he wanted to stay in the area with his family and his resume was limited as an assistant coach.

There is only one player that I can think of in the past 5 or so seasons that has improved himself year in and year out and improved not only physically but expanded his game through summer sessions and training. I doubt I have to name him as well all know who the POY was. I was not said to see Evans gone. The guy was a train wreck waiting to happen and perhaps the administration saw this early and let him go with no resistance. I can say this. The administration has a long list of criteria that they will require the next coach to agree to commit to following if he wants to be the next coach, and at the front of that list will be academics of players and keeping them on course to graduate along with off court behavior. However, hopefully they will bring in a candidate we can afford as well as get production not only in the classroom but on the court. _
Good post and an interesting list. Certainly there are some quality names on that list, but interest should be shared by both parties. I'm not sure some of these coaches would consider a move to UL, although it will be interesting to see if any contact this university once the position is posted.

We probably need a back up point to give AndrewS some rest but we have shooting guards with Daigle, Bureau and Grandigo coming back. We need somone who can dominate on the boards. A strong 4 man with the loss of Johnson.
For a minute step back and let's think about these kids for one minute. They have worked thier asses off this season. They did not give us what WE wanted and I don't think that they lost games just so we could come on here and complain about them. At the end of the season they played with 7 players and sucked it up. Those who were still on the floor were literally beat up but sucked it up and played thier heart out and I commend them for that. They are the ones who need answers now.
Remember we want to know what is going on so we can say the administation is either heading in a positive or negative way but these players futures are also depending on what our great administration does.
It is time for them to make a decision. Like NIKE says so often "JUST DO IT." WHAT EVER THE IT IS DO IT. _
Look, we need to get rid of Rogers because after 3 years he has quickly undone what Coach Hall did and the program is going down the toilet. Coach Hall is available NOW and wants to return. We can fire Rogers, name Coach Hall as the coach, then move on to the hiring process of the men's coach. Why spend a lot of time on both positions? We have a proven coach who actually took our program to the NCAAs and he wants back in. How good is that?

You cant resign from a job that you dont have!!! Rogers still has years, Lee's contract is done for the hundreth time.
And can we get a super merge on threads. I understand having specific threads on individual candidates (Champagne, Pierre, etc), but we have at least 3 of these general "Who's gonna be the next coach" threads. Need to get this place in order Turb ;)

I'm afraid you will be disappointed. The administration seems ready to make a quick hire on the men's side and pay a quality candidate appropriately. That will put the women's need on the backburner. I don't think you'll see the womens team see another head for another year.

So in coaching, but not college coaching. The guy who took the fall at Mizzou is now the head coach at Texas Southern.
Todd Bozeman who had a show cause penalty lifted is now doing a great job at Morgan State.
John Calipari who had two Final Fours stripped is at the biggest basketball job in the land.
Calvin Sampson went from Oklahoma sanctions to the head coach at Indiana.
Beef with the NCAA is not as big of a deal to athletic directors as I think people on here feel. Because the bottom line is, if your teams don't win, the athletic directors get fired. _
Yet, Calipari is the only coach on a major level in collegiate athletics. Sampson was forced to resign at one of the storied programs in the country after only a couple of seasons. The risk does outweigh the rewards, especially if you're financially more vulnerable as a school that doesn't have tons of private dollars floating around.
I can also say this. This administration is not one for going after risky candidates, especially if that includes trouble with the NCAA. It may be a risk worth taking at other programs but I don't think that philosophy runs abundant at Martin Hall.

Where would he go? Seriously, like T said, his resume was quite limited. Evans may have not been necessarily unethical or did things that were wrong, but his focus was not on graduating players. He took kids in that were risky at times. You are right, he did have some good kids as well and I'm not taking anything away from them. However, off the court Jessie did little to progress the program.
To be honest, its not even worth talking about. We're about to be looking into the rearview mirror at both Jesse Evans and Robert Lee. That's a good thing. Hopefully, in a few weeks, we'll all be discussing the excitement that surrounds the program with a good, quality hire. Hopefully.

For God's sake can we drop Bobby Champagne from our lists? _
Well you could drop him, outside of the fact that he has local ties, has produced a winner at the Div II level and has been nationally ranked the last 3 years there, at some point during the season. Can we do better possibly..but they gave an african-american a chance, with no head coaching experience, why not a white guy with head coaching experience?
As for Floyd he is with the Hornets and not leaving, Kennedy wouldn't take a side step, or a step back for that matter....Jones might jump...little experience in the South, I remember him from his days coaching AAU in Michigan, he was involved in the Fab Five if i remember correctly? Kasper can be a serious contender, but based on coaches we can offer, we might get a better teir coach-but he can coach!
Anyone who say Butch Pierre, thats just like saying Jessie Evans....same type of person-coach speak, lip service, and sly when your not looking over their shoulder.
