Re: Louisiana vs. Troy Game Thread
Players played their hearts out tonight. Coaches, not so much. They may have made adjustments, but how about you fight for your team! In the Monroe game, their bench goes crazy on the punt that so say touches our player. Tonight, on the horrible calls, like when their QB is 2 yards past the line and throws a TD our coaches just take the call and act like they don't give a damn.

I was standing right there where this happened and saw exactly what happened. The Troy QB was clearly over the line. I would like to see the replay. The UL coaches did not say or do anything, but who good would it have been? I truly believe that was a make up call for some of the bad calls that went our way. It was a bad officiated game on both sides, but that is what the sunbelt officials have always done. Troy was the better team, lets be honest. Ow well we sit home again, basically over a blocked FG in OT at FIU. think about it?

Can someone explain to me what adjustments need to be made to stop the receiver from running a successful slant route? We were getting killed on that play over and over again...

I was at the game and I can assure you we are not more talented than Troy. They have great team speed, their defensive line dominated for most of the fourth quarter, their QB will get a shot in the NFL, and they physically are more imposing at just about every position. I won't comment on the merits of the staff but the team with better players won tonight. Everyone who was at the game I spoke to agrees with that. Now, for us to have their level of success, recruiting has to improve. It's that simple.

quit making the safeties drop back so far in zone coverage keep one up and guard the middle. you shut that down and you keep potentially 1 or 2 td's from ever being scored and maybe even cause a turnover or two

Exactly, we're so deep we're not even punishing the receivers when they catch it over the middle. Its often hard to stop a perfect throw on timing, but you have to make them pay after the catch. The db trailing the receiver or the linebacker underneath made tackle on virtually every one of these. The safeties didn't arrive until the receiver had the ball and was on the ground.

I was impressed with the way Blaine Gauthier came in and took control of the offense. Would like to see what he and Rob Walker could do in the backfield.
Re: Louisiana vs. Troy Game Thread
I felt bad for number 18 for Troy, tore his ACL during his last regular season game. He won't get to play in the bowl game; he sat there and cried for a good while before he was carted off.
Re: Louisiana vs. Troy Game Thread
I had a good time tonight. One thing was for sure....the level of play on the field was vastly superior to what I experienced at the Bayou Classic earlier in the day.
Here's a couple pics from the game

Re: Louisiana vs. Troy Game Thread
When we are down by 9 and running on a 3rd and 4 I'm done. Period. I was scratching my head on a lot of the offensive play calling.
