Actually, it should say "at" rather than "@". Since we are talking legality of our name, the university logo also says University of Louisiana Lafayette (with Lafayette italicized). It should say Unversity of Louisiana at Lafayette. Below is our logo. Also below is the University of Texas at Austin logo. I wish our logo were more like this with the greater emphasis on TEXAS. Seems to me we should use our correct, legal name for official university business. Maybe part of the reason people call us Louisiana Lafayette is because that is what our logo says.
How about one long sign facing University centered in from of Martin Hall saying University of Louisiana, followed by a space of about fifty feet around the curve, and they another wall that says at Lafayette facing Martin Hall. :D
I threw something together real quick based on the Texas logo previously posted. Excuse the ugly "OF", it was hastily thrown together and the letters that were already in there looked really bad when stretched bigger. Gives an idea of what it could look like I guess.
And the city tag can be no smaller than 50% the Louisiana font size.
