To each his own, but I just can't imagine going shoot tree rats is better than watching college football.

No kidding, LOL. It's amazing that there is an actual squirrel season. I'd have to be pretty damn hungry to eat one of those things.

Squirrels are delicious, eat mostly nuts. But definitely a rodent.

Re: How to pack Cajun Field against Texas State?
You guys are missing the reason why we don’t have fans. UL has not cultivated a fan base from its students.
WE WILL NEVER CONVERT LSU FANS!
Some where between 60-75k students have graduated in the last 30 years. Most of those were LSU fans. The time to convert this fans are when they are on campus. As we have seen the university does a poor job of getting student participation and cultivating our future donors and base.

. . . he has a point . . . and then we hire the student gestapo . . .

Why do some convert and some not convert? Does the university approach the non conversion students differently? I grew up going to both. Went to school here and now hate the TSAB. 90% of the people I sat with in the stadium and pre and post gamed with at the fraternity that go to game on Saturday are in BR. Why is that. We all did the exact same thing in college. Hard to explain.

Probably part of it goes back to the dorm vs commuter debate.

Re: How to pack Cajun Field against Texas State?
. . . lots of non-caring here combine with pressure from friends, business acquaintances, etc year in and year out . . . until the last 10 years or so, the pressure by Louisiana alumni was never, in any instance to support your alma-mater . . .

Because the university doesn’t care. They don’t care about retaining 50-60% of the student as fans.
It’s the main reason I harp on Greek life. I wasn’t a Greek, in fact we beat the ____ out of the Greeks after a yell like hell. Went to Frat Row and beat their ass.
But, we need to grow the Greek organizations dramatically! Put academic, community service and athletic attendance requirements. If they continue to meet those requirements let them grow. Bring in new chapters and give them an opportunity to grow as well.
On campus undergraduate students need to grow to 20,000. Post graduate students need to get to 5000. That should be priority number 1.
Greek life should account for 40% of the student population. The administration will never allow it. But that’s how we grow!

Another reason could be something I just happen to come across today is we don’t have any tradition here what so ever. Look at this ole miss traditions starts as a student continues as alumni. Watch the pre game video.

Heard about that yell like hell incident. I was alumni that was unfortunate. We were more supportive of the ball team back in our day. Then again we watched some of Stokleys most talented teams highlighted by guys like Mitchell, Scott, Simms, Etienne… Look at the bright side the Greeks did their job that night at yell like hell, I think y’all won y’all only game of the year that week end. I was there.

They're not fans of LSU.. they're fans of drinking and partying
I'm not sure why it's so hard to figure out. College guys want to drink beers and chase girls. College girls want to drink and be chased. Neither of those things are really possible for underclassmen at Cajun Field.
So just drive to Nicholson in BR and tailgate for free, do as many funnels and beer pong games as you want.. have a great time.
Then when the UL alumni association and RCAF comes calling for money, you'll remember having a miserable time at CF and a great time outside Tiger Stadium

The last part is what’s the most concerning. When RCAF and the Alumni Association comes calling in 5-10 years after these current students graduate, you think they’re going to give money when they look back at some of these bad experiences?
That’s what we were harping on two weeks ago. We are selectively enforcing rules and being petty with the same people that is supposedly our future donor base.

Re: How to pack Cajun Field against Texas State?
Fun Fact: I had a free ticket to the Buffalo game, so I asked my neighbor if he wanted to go (he graduated from UL in 2022). He answered to door in LSU gear and said “Nah we are going to the bar to watch the tigers”…. Recent UL Grads cmon now

My neice is a senior at UL. She has been to One football game in 4 years. There is another example.

Apple used to hire people to wait in line for their new product releases.
Perception marketing might be needed.

Maybe they should hire people to park in the free lots across the street.

Re: How to pack Cajun Field against Texas State?
What ever happened with people paying to, or bidding for, chance to get to throw out ceremonial first pitch at baseball..... would there be a football or basketball equivalent?
Coin toss maybe, but I could see the refs or other team objectin? Run ahead of team out of tunnel carrying one of the flags? But random joe fan might slow down the team?
And basketball? Participate in lay up drills? Refs monitor pre game could object?

Are all these so called parking obstacles real or imagined? If so and costs more how on earth did aggie fans have RVs in the student parking lot most of the week prior? Did we ever recoup funds for that?
