Will Healy expected to be next Charlotte head coach
http://footballscoop.com/news/report...te-head-coach/
This is kinda odd:
What’s different? There are cameras at practice solely focused on players’ body language. There’s mandatory exuberance after big plays captured by an end zone celebration camera. And overall, there’s a coaching philosophy more focused on the person than the player, as Healy preaches etiquette more than execution. Healy is such a stickler for manners that he makes his 3-year-old son, Eli, say please to the family’s Amazon Alexa device. “I don’t mind being different,” Healy said. “I think we hold our players accountable, but you don’t have to cuss ’em up one leg and down the other to do it.”
Epic coaching thread.
Thanks Cajunfanatico
I wonder if Penworm whined about Bill introducing young Monica to the evils of tabacco? Somehow I think not.
Who knew that the cigars were really a tribute to the Clintons and not winning a championship.
Reports: Mike Locksley will be Maryland’s head coach
Alabama offensive coordinator Mike Locksley will be the new head coach at Maryland sources tell FootballScoop.
Brett McMurphy was first to report the hire (below).
Heck of a day for Locks, who won the Broyles Award earlier today.
Locksley is in his third season on Nick Saban’s staff and first as offensive coordinator.
Locksley arrived in Tuscaloosa in 2016 as an offensive analyst after the Maryland staff, where he was offensive coordinator, was swept out with Randy Edsall’s firing. After one year on the support staff, Locksley was promoted to co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach in 2017 and then to the Tide’s sole offensive coordinator in 2018, where he has directed the most explosive offense in program history.

Sterlin Gilbert will be the next McNeese State head coach, sources told FootballScoop on Wednesday barring any unforeseen issues.
Gilbert was also a candidate for the Texas State job, which ultimately went to West Virginia offensive coordinator Jake Spavital.
Gilbert has spent the past two seasons as the offensive coordinator at South Florida, and prior to that spent a season with Charlie Strong at Texas in the same capacity.
A product of the Art Briles coaching tree, Gilbert coordinated offenses for former Briles assistant Dino Babers at Eastern Illinois and Bowling Green and for longtime Briles lieutenant Philip Montgomery at Tulsa before joining Strong in Austin in 2016.

Don’t know. Obviously Gilbert wanted a HC gig. McNeese didn’t have a lot of money to work with, so God only knows how those stars aligned.
McNeese might finally see the light. This hire is outside the SLC/McNeese ties, which has been their chosen path for decades. Win or lose, breaking that hiring tradition may be a selling point or breaking point with supporters.

McNees should do all it can to retain their roots. I’d bet they’re going to regret this move away from the tree.

Update on App State’s coaching search
At this time, sources tell FootballScoop, NC State offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford is a legit candidate for the job. Western Carolina head coach Mark Speir has interviewed, as has interim head coach Mark Ivey. Each of these three have significant coaching experience at App and Ivey played in Boone as well.
In addition to these three, sources tell FootballScoop a number of coordinators, predominantly on the offensive side of the ball and from or familiar with the region, have sought interviews. Additionally, a number of experienced head coaches have called in as well. Auburn running backs coach Tim Horton, who previously coached at App State, has been mentioned as a candidate by many.
Gillin has a number of excellent options to carry the program forward. We’ll keep you updated as more becomes clear.
