Primate center probe ends. Situation corrected

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has formally ended its investigation into UL's New Iberia Research Center, more than a year after receiving a complaint from the Humane Society of the United States about possible abuse of primates at the facility ...
Humane Society at it Again...
Re: Humane Society at it Again...
If the HSUS don't like us testing possibly life saving things on chimps, why don't they volunteer to be the test subjects?
Re: Humane Society at it Again...
Or let the baddest one in their club go three, three minute rounds with one of the chimps.
Re: Humane Society at it Again...
This appears to be an open and shut case of government fraud under the federal False Claims Act,” said Jonathan Lovvorn, vice president and chief counsel for animal protection litigation at The HSUS. “The Attorney General should investigate this matter, terminate illegal breeding at NIRC, and take legal action to recover any taxpayer monies squandered by this facility.”
I hope no one in Mr. Lovvorn's family ever has a death sentence from cancer or any other terminal disease. I'd love to be the one to tell him that we almost had a cure for the disease that inflicts his loved one, but because of his actions, the NIRC had to shut down and the chance at saving his loved one's life with a new medicine went down the tube with his hippy tree hugging kumbaya save the animals over human life attitude.
GEAUX UL!

That's a clever idea.
I actually don't object to their concerns, but to their methods. They aren't working to advance animal welfare, where they could contribute a great deal. They are working to shut down the research, regardless of any other concerns, and without looking at what they could accomplish in the short run.
Yeah, they're wackos. But after you've been around awhile, you realize that everyone's a wacko some of the time.
Even you & me...

U.S. Suspends Use of Chimps in New Research It Finances
Dr. Thomas Rowell, director of the New Iberia Research Center in New Iberia, La., which houses 471 chimpanzees, more than any other center in the country, also said he was “quite pleased” with the report. He said, “It just confirms what we’ve been saying all along in regard to the chimpanzee model for advancing public health research.”

University of Louisiana Making Name Strides
Last night I was watching the Science Channel series Though the Wormhole. In this particular show the concept was about God, and man. Is God an invention of man, or is man from God? The important thing to UL is that our cognitive research center was featured in one of the experiments.
In this particular study, Dr. Povinelli was featured as a researcher at the University of Louisiana. No doubt there will come a time when ULM will see it in their own interest to crate space for themselves. We already see that in their preferred use of ULM in most thing.
In the meantime UL and the University of Louisiana continues to swath their way though the name jungle. Quit sweating the little things. We want this more than others do not want us to have it. The war is won, and one day there will be no pockets of dissent.
