So the records of our opponents do not matter when it comes to attendance, what is keeping attendance down is the high prices charged by TicketMaster and the price of beer, hot dogs and popcorn once you enter the arena.
Ark. State and USA were playing well when we beat them the first time. They may have had winning records at that stage. Cajuns showed other teams how to handle them. Often when you lose a game you expect to win it carries over into the future. South Alabama was on a high after beating Troy when we handled them in Mobile for example.

4) Purchase spots on conventional radio/TV stations to promote games, not only season tickets but games on a particular week.
5) Find some way to have a regular radio sports talk show on our flagship station hosted by a knowledgeable person which will heavily feature Cajuns talk. This will probably reguire our folks to sell advertising on their own. Station obviously won't do it.
6) Insure there is some type of band present at all games. Games in between semesters often lack a band. In the past, an alumni band played in these situations.
Of course some of these are applicable for all sports. One encouraging thing I learned from Dr. Maggard's interview is that we now have a dedicated ticket sales force which will go out into the community to push tickets. Good luck to them.
We know someone who can handle #5.
As far as the rest of the suggestions, they're very good.
Re: Basketball Attendance
I created a separate thread asking people to focus on the realistic suggestions due to thread drift which occurred here. Once a thread gets to 5 pages, sometimes people tune it out. Hopefully Turbine is OK with that move.

I do believe that is true, except this....I don't think you would have any more Cajun fans in the dome, but you would get more Houston fans in the dome than Houston Christian (they are no longer called Houston Baptist).
Re: Basketball Attendance
I wonder how the Grand would do if they showed the same movie every night for 14 years straight.
Re: Basketball Attendance
There seems to be a clear difference between the fan engagement with diamond sports vs football and basketball. The question is why. This is totally perception and I have not tried this with any of the 4 coaches in question. I feel like if I had a negative experience associated with their specific program, I could walk right up to Glasco or Deggs and they would not only hear the complaint, they would make it a point to right the situation as well as follow up to make sure I was happy. My perception of Marlin is that he wouldn't care and it would go in one ear and out the other. With Des, acknowledging that D1 head football coach is a monster of a responsibility, would not be approachable to the point described with Glasco and Deggs.
Before you come with the pitchforks and say that I think I should have a direct line to the head football coach to complain, that is not what I'm saying. It is simply a feeling of connection. That feeling is there with some coaches who don't have attendance/engagement issues. It's not with the ones that do. Just something to think about.
Re: Basketball Attendance
Get Will Wade's ass over here but we're way to smart for that. He's beneath us being he was at LSU. This guy runs circles around a ton of coaches in this country. Marlin couldn't carry this guy's luggage. This university is horrified of success.

And then went to the dance. I was waiting for the pitchforks to come out after a loss. It was inevitable. The season is not over. We are still in 4th place. One game out of 3rd and within striking distance of 1st/2nd.
I’m curious JTJ to know what happened this year for you to come out guns a blazing. Even your ding dong cousin has come to a few games this year even though he despises the coach.
