I have been so pumped up from the day that she was born to bring her to her first Ragin' Cajun football game! I have had her UL gear that I want her to wear to the first game picked out for weeks! We even did a dress rehearsal last Saturday to make sure everything fits.
Everytime I look at my daughter and ask, "Is it gameday yet?" She starts laughing at me. I know she cant understand me yet but its almost like she knows how tired my wife is of being tricked into thinking I have a legitimate question only to hear the same rhetorical question from me.
Now, all of a sudden tonight my wife "doesnt think its a good idea to bring her in the game if it might rain."
What kind of BS is that?!?!?!?
She didnt mind bringing her the the Sunbelt Conference Softball Tournament and regionals and supers when it was 120 degrees but a little rain is going to keep her home?!?!?
Tomorrow is going to be a very tense day in this Ragin' Cajun household...
My wife had our daughter on the 17th, so naturally we won't be out there. We are, however, setting up the tent, firing up the grill, putting her in a Cajun's onesie and having a little family tailgate in the backyard. I can't wait until we can bring her out to Cajun Field, though.
Re: Rain could hurt the attendance for the Southern game
Rain should slow down and actually completely stop by game time. Get your butts to the game.
Re: Rain could hurt the attendance for the Southern game
In the past, when rain was in the forecast, myself and 2 or 3 other of die hards would be the only ones from our 30ish member group to go to the games. Not this year - my whole group will be there tomorrow rain or shine. Things are different now, gentlemen

Bring them out to tailgate and enjoy yourselves. Then make it a game time decision. Less stress and hopefully everything works out.

I'm passing through Alexandria on my way from Dallas right now. I don't care if its raining. Football is a warrior sport, I plan on being a warrior spectator.
Re: Rain could hurt the attendance for the Southern game
Yea, it is starting to look like it wont be as bad as they are forecasting. I sat though a tropical depression before to watch a Cajun game in either the late 70s or early 80s. Then the hood on my $2 poncho cracked, so i had water dripping in my face all game. It's not me or the usualls that I was concerned about. It's the ones that are scared of rain, heat, or cold. I just hope the rain holds off so that everyone will be comfortable and enjoy the game. See you all tomorrow, rain or tornadoes :) or shine
Lafayette is under a Flash Flood Watch until late Saturday evening. It was issued at 9pm tonight so maybe they are expecting rain to develop during the morning and day. They say 2 to 3 inches expected in the watch area (Lafayette parish). Just a heads up. I have no doubt that anyone on this board would ever miss this game, including myself.
It was just the people that go to tailgate and if it starts pouring down they leave because alot that go are not diehard fans like us and wouldn't sit through a thunderstorm to watch the game.
Re: Rain could hurt the attendance for the Southern game
Flash Flood Watch in effect for all of Acadiana through Saturday evening. Rain and embedded storms developing with locally heavy rain possible through Saturday afternoon. Rain accumulations through Saturday evening generally 2-4" but isolated amounts could exceed 4-6" with localized flooding possible.

We are undoubtedly going to lose attendance. But, it will be different than years past
