Posted on another thread, but I'll duplicate it here.
For those interested, there will be a Diamond Club Luncheon on Thursday, November 1st starting at 11:30am. It will be held at the Festival Ball Room at the . The typical member’s fee is $10, and non-members pay $20, but I've been told that everyone can participate for the $10 fee tomorrow. They'll also be taking payments for those who want to join the Diamond Club for next year as well.
During the season, it's typical for the coach to start speaking at noon, but from my understanding some of the player coaches for the Fall Ball World Series will be there as well and may handle some of the speaking as well. It's your chance to get the scoop on the returning and new players.
This is a team at the university that consistently provides a quality product, players and coaching staff, and shows the best of our university to the country. If you've never attended one of these luncheons, you're missing out.

The 45 members of UL's fall baseball team have been divided, and play begins tonight in the annual Fall World Series at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
The best-of-seven series wraps up fall drills for the Cajun squad and gives head coach Tony Robichaux and his staff a last chance to evaluate players before a mandated cutdown to 35 active-roster players.
"That's the hardest thing about this," Robichaux said Thursday at the annual Fall World Series luncheon at the Cajundome Convention Center. "That's why we as coaches hope it goes seven games. We tell the umpires if it's a close play, we want it to go more games."
Making those decisions even harder heading into tonight's 6:30 p.m. series opener is a freshman class that has been a pleasant surprise since the start of fall practice. In fact, the four seniors serving as coaches for the Black team went heavily toward freshman picks in the underclassman draft earlier this week.

"We went with a lot of freshman," said senior outfielder Nolan Gisclair. "We've got a lot of speed in that group. Our whole lineup and outfield are going to be fast - we're going to be stealing and hit-and-running the whole series. The freshmen really don't know who they're not supposed to be able to hit against, so they're not intimidated."
Conversely, the Red team is loaded with veterans - 11 of the team's 18 returning lettermen.
"We've got a good atmosphere on our team," said senior pitcher Hunter Moody. "I think our starting pitching is a big strength, and our hitting is going to be solid."
The seven seniors were divided by the UL coaching staff - Gisclair, outfielder Josh Logan and pitchers Buddy Glass and Brent Solich on the Black team and Moody, pitcher John Zorich and outfielder Kolin Hatfield on the Red unit - and that group will have virtually total autonomy over all coaching decisions including lineups and pitching usage.
"For us, this lets us see what group of seniors can manage conflict over a week and a half," Robichaux said. "When they post that lineup and pitching rotation, it will create some. We'll see who it chaps and irritates, and we as coaches can step back and see who competes and who's good with team chemistry. If someone's a good fit, that may be someone that stays around."
The teams will play seven-inning games today, Saturday and Sunday, take Monday off and play Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until one team has four wins. If necessary, a seventh game is set for the following Saturday.
Moody and junior catcher Blaine LaFleur make up the Red starting battery tonight against Solich and freshman catcher and highly-regarded prospect Thad Griffen. Griffen is one of 21 true or redshirt freshmen on the roster, and many will see extensive Series action.
The newcomers are also important with the condensed schedule this year. An NCAA-mandated later start (Feb. 22) means that UL will play five five-game weeks during the season. Robichaux also said that he expects the major league draft to take a heavy toll on his junior class after this season.
"Pro ball is going to decimate us between (pitcher Danny) Farquhar, (pitcher Greg) Wilborn and (catcher/outfielder Scott) Hawkins," he said. "That's why the freshman are so important. We need to let them get as close to a game reality as we can get this week."

Looks like a premium pay site.... Can you summarize?
The Cajuns have signed three HS baseball prospects, two are rated in the top 250 in the country. Both will be drafted by MLB, just don't know how high. Speaks volumes as to were the program is at this time. The staff is also looking to sign a few JC recruits to help next year with the 12 freshmen on the roster.
