Re: Ike Taylor Retirement
To draw comparisons, Jake lived here and never forgot UL, but he also never went on MNF and declared "THE University of Louisiana"
With Ike and Peanut you had same draft year, same relative NFL success, and side by side self promotional comparisons.
Ike's style arrived at the wrong time and place.
He never dissed UL, his only crime was declaring himself a self made man. That same mentality drove him to success.
Re: Ike Taylor Retirement
The Tillman/Taylor excuse is utterly ridiculous. At no point when Ike was yellin "Swaggin U" on national TV, or telling ppl that he was a "self made" player did I ever think to myself "Peanut would never do that". Never, not once. Taylor is and has always been a pompous jerk with a false sense of entitlement, and to be frank, it never surprised me that he did that Swaggin bull____. I guess we, Louisiana, should consider ourselves lucky that the all mighty Ike frickin Taylor chose our little school over all those offers he had back then..
Oh wait.. He didn't, did he?
"Self made" my ___. If had not been for coaches on the Cajuns staff moving him to CB, the guy never sniffs a pro gridiron.

Doesn't matter if you uttered or openly thought anything, the association in contrasts was unavoidable.
I agree he needed all the help he got.

We'll never forget you, Ivan.

----Please ASK him the question---Why did you say SWAGGIN' instead of your college school?????
Re: Ike Taylor Retirement
I don't know Ike Taylor. I have seen him on TV during the intros and of course, I was disappointed every time he didn't let the TV audience know where he went to school and played ball. Yes, it would have been nice for folks who didn't/don't know UL from poh dunk that two of the best CB's in the league came from here. But, I'm a believer that everybody can and does change over time. I for one would welcome Ike back to "his university" and hopefully see him participate in bringing attention to our program and possibly contribute indirectly in recruiting efforts. Would love to see him when the Gridiron Alumni Association feeds the team in August and after the spring game. Help promote our fund raiser for the BlackJack scholarship fund etc. etc.
Ike, if you are reading this....remember, you can always come back home. I know it looks like you will be setting up in NOLA in some form or fashion, whether it be for business/camps or you decided to move back to your hometown. Just remember, once a Ragin Cajun, always a Ragin Cajun. We would love to see you at least make the homecoming game this year!
