No LSU that day of course…but not to be forgotten b. people actually did their jobs somewhat for the GSU game and promoted it like it mattered. We can’t control a but we can always control b.
We CHOOSE not to promote and improve our gameday experience. This community has chosen that what we provide is not worth their time.
As Turbine said this situation is based on IF. That does not stop and start with on field performance. We built the success on field up. Attendance improved but not by the numbers we wanted. In large part, IMO, because we did NOTHING to improve our gameday experience.

Anybody heard anything about T.J. Finley and the Cajuns?

Do we really want this kid, what has he really done? He could not even start on a terrible Auburn team that went 5-7 while when he did play his number were terrible at Auburn. He did have some decent numbers at LSU, but he is a turnover machine. In his career at both Auburn and LSU he has 12 TD's vs 10 INT's. He has only completed about 57% of his passes and found himself behind guys by the name of Bo Nix, Robby Ashford, Myles Brennan and Max Johnson, not a who's who of NCAA QB's.
I know the kid has talent, but I feel better with Zeon Chriss at QB, now if he was to come in and be a projected backup, then possibly, but to start, no way, we have been down that road before and it was a failure.

Nicholls: 3 point win. Lindsey dominated us that entire game. He doesn't gift us with a pick 6 we lose.
South Alabama: Missed 37 yard field goal gave us the game.
Ark State: Beat a 1-6 football team by a whopping 1 point. Needed a 99 yard TD run and needed a 10+ minute drive to ice it.
Georgia State: Rushed for 200+ yards on us at home and could've won the game if Elliot doesn't abandon the run too early.
It doesn't take anything away from Billy Napier and his legacy here to acknowledge the fact that he was without out a doubt the most fortunate coach we have had in the last 30+ years.
2 field goal misses against "the program we should never lose to" away from OT in one game and a loss in the other. Billy had 4 years here and gave us one dominant win over the Warhawks.
Have we forgotten the shanked field goal to get us our first win over App State? Needing a 53 yard field goal from a guy who couldn't hit 30 yarders to beat Ga Southern?

The only reason to add TJ Finley to the program is depth. He will graduate from Auburn this month and have 1 yr. of eligibility left. I doubt seriously if Wooldridge will be cleared to play by the beginning of the season and we don't know if Fields has lingering questions about his recovery. He adds experience and depth to the roster, and he is from Louisiana.
Now I've seen nothing that suggest he is coming to UL for a visit, or if we are in consideration. There are a number of graduate QBs hitting the portal, but he would make sense considering he is a Louisiana native.

Didn't that guy with the bird say that the opening starter would be Ben. Has that changed?

13-1 and 6-7 ARENT the same. I'm not sure how you argue otherwise. We can say all we want "could woulda" or IF this, or if that. It wasn't. If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle too. So we dont call her uncle Sue. Facts. They weren't. Period.

Napiers teams found ways to win over the years while Dez’s first team found ways to lose. Yeah a few plays here and there would have changed both teams records. Call it luck or whatever, Napiers teams delivered. Dez’s lone team hasn’t. Also leave my uncle Sue out of this. Didn’t you learn anything from Johnny Cash??

To be Clear I didn’t say they were the same, I said people don’t realize just how close both teams were to a 9/10 win season. Tulane was 2-10 before winning the cotton bowl the following year, we haven’t missed any boat. The boat actually isn’t even here yet.

The 13-1 team was very close to having several more losses. The 6-7 team last year was very close to having several more wins. Billy was the luckiest SOB to ever put on a headset for the Cajuns. Again...this doesn't change his legacy, and I'm not sure how that equates to saying 13-1 and 6-7 are the same.
Des coached himself out of several wins last year. Anybody remember Nape's first year here? Coastal comes to our place and beats us because of Billy playing revolving door at QB.

Taking an intentional safety and having your opponent shank a field goal is one way to deliver I guess.

Well, Billy Napier didn't find a way to beat Coastal Carolina 31-28 a team in transition in 2018. He got smoked the last 2 games of the season, 30-19 against App. State and Tulane 41-24 in the bowl game. All 3 games were embarrassments.
I'm willing to give Des a chance to prove he can coach better results. He may not get the Cajuns back in the Top 25, but hopefully he can contend for the conference championship in most seasons.

Considering the long snapping struggles that night the safety was the absolute right call in that game.

The championship game against app state in Napier’s first year certainly wasn’t an embarrassment. The game was nip and tuck the whole way. The other two I’ll give you. Having said that hopefully Dez follows in Napier‘s footsteps and got all of his bad luck out of the way in year one.

With all that happened last off season I just don’t see how this year won’t be better. The O line should be light years better if they remain healthy. I suspect he will choose a starter at QB and go with a guy this year. One concern at that position and if Ben will be ready to go. If Ben and chandler are both healthy the Cajuns will have 2 of the most experienced back ups ever.

No, you didn't say that and I agree how close the two teams were to each other. I am hopeful this year the ball bounces our way!

I would be absolutely shocked if "Ben is ready to go."
By the way did anyone notice that the guy Ben lost the starting job to while at Fresno was a 4th round pick to the New Orleans Saints.
Attached is the article that mentions about the QB battle while at Fresno.
