Re: Final: Louisiana 72, Texas 100
The SMU win, which looked nice at the time, has faded. SMU is now 5-8, and collected a home loss to Jackson State earlier in the month.

Wow, so how many wins do we have against teams with winning records?

. La Tech and Samford have winning records I believe. Now SMU does have several close losses. One of those is to Hawaii where a 3 beat them at buzzer.

Re: Final: Louisiana 72, Texas 100
I ignored 3 non D1 games in my answer. Loyola has a nice record however.

Based on the D1 teams we have faced so far…
McNeese 3-10
Samford 6-7
ETSU 4-9
SMU 5-8
Harvard 8-5
La Tech 7-5
UNO 3-8
So that’s 2 out of 7 teams with a winning record
36-45 against teams other than us
36-52 if you include the losses to us

The way the propaganda flows on here when it comes to MBB, some people need to be slapped in the face with data.

I think everyone on this board is pretty realistic when it comes to basketball. I’d say the majority feel there needs to be a change. At least 75%.

Re: Final: Louisiana 72, Texas 100
I trust his number crunching as well. I was going by memory when I said Samford had a winning record but I had not checked in a couple of weeks. I know their schedule has been challenging. By the same token, East Tennessee had a losing record last time I checked. They have had injuries but must have people back now. They played LSU to the wire a few days ago. As far as SMU goes, disappointment of losing to the Cajuns may have impacted the follow up games. The loss last second loss to Hawaii adds to their rough season. No one really knows how strong opponents will be in this day of rapid roster turnover. We will begin to see how prepared Cajuns are for conference play starting Thursday.

Thanks for the research! It is always good to know who our wins are against.

This^
As Mike and others have pointed out, this team is an obvious work in progress. Any talk today of being a post season caliber team is ludicrous.

Re: Final: Louisiana 72, Texas 100
I did not watch the Texas game, but I have watched Chris Beard teams at Little Rock and at Texas Tech. They play defense, and their half court offense is patient, disciplined, has excellent spacing, excellent ball movement and excellent play away from the ball. In other words, everything that Bob Marlin teams don't have.

Can we send a belated Christmas present to Bob?
